Professor Cooper tries his best to make sure everyone understands the material although most of the time homework assignments do not prep you for the midterm/final. He's a funny guy, take him and the effort you put into the class will definitely reflect your grade. This is a good thing because the final counts as 50% or ALL of your grade.
Professor Cooper's class for 34A can be kind of intimidating, since there are so many people. But if you go to CLAS, the class becomes easier. Make sure to go to class, do the iClicker, and do the work, as well as going to section. Professor Cooper is extremely helpful when you go to his office hours.
Awesome, British teacher. By far one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Tells jokes every class and starts and ends class with fun math videos or songs. Work and tests are doable if you pay attention. Great teacher!!
great attitude, extremely fair with grading (if not on the really easy grading side) just go to section and lecture and the class will be a breeze.

Trys hard to make class as least boring as possible considering it is a math course. tells jokes which arent that bad. do homework it will help with test. over all good class.
Daryl has to be the worst professor I have had here at UCSB. His lectures are awful and his homework is never helpful for midterms. His midterms are nothing like the practice ones either. To make it worse he does not work with TAs. They are left helpless and clueless. If that wasn't bad enough his jokes are dreadful.
Darly is such a funny professor! He makes lecture enjoyable with his silly jokes, and he's a good teacher, especially considering that he is teaching 800 students at a time. I've never been a "math person," so I was surprised that I enjoyed this class as much as I did. Keep it up Daryl!

AMAZING PROFEESOR he is my favorite professor on campus, keeps class interesting with his jokes and youtube music videos.. he actually wants you to pass the class and if you pay attention and put in some effort, its not a hard class. thanks prof cooper, i actually enjoy math now!!
such a great professor!he was very funny and made calculus actually seem ok! im glad i took his class and am looking forward to taking math 34b next quarter, although his jokes sometimes dont make sense to me, hes still pretty funny. definitely reccomend him to anyone struggling in math and actually wants to enjoy a math class! :D

Honestly you couldn't ask for a better math professor. He knows this subject isn't anyones favorite and does a good job of trying to make it fun (as ridiculous as that sounds). If you go to class and do the homework there really isn't any reason why you should get a grade lower than a B. I'm a psych major, i hate math but im sure i got atleast a B.
Mr. Cooper is a great teacher who makes class fun with his mid-class jokes(that are made greater with his English accent)and his clear, precise teaching approach to math. Tests are not too difficult if you attend lectures. I highly recommend this class.

Don't buy the book, its useless and unclear. All you need to do is photocopy the practice tests in the back. The material isn't difficult and its easy to predict what will be on the tests. He's friendly and easy going, if you fail a midterm or or too sick he will let your other grades cover for that one. I hated math, but did very well in 34A!

even though the lectures, hw, tests, etc. are all diff.he does try his hardest to make ppl pass! he understands your situation (budget crisis) & wants you to make the most of it. he lightens the class up by telling jokes. when he does teach something, he teaches it well. i recommend you do the hw & definitly seek help OUTSIDE of class. discussions
He is a great professor. It's probably the most interesting Math class I've taken. But hopefully I'll never have to take another one again. I am horrible at math, but this class makes it bearable and even entertaining.Although the videos/jokes are a little random, its overall a good class.Read the book, practice ,and enroll in CLAS!
