Daryl has been absolutely amazing for math 34AB. He made my 1st year here amazing, and so far he's been my favorite professor at UCSB.
Daryl is definitely one of the best professors here at UCSB. He cracks a lot of funny jokes and his lectures were always entertaining and informative. He is organized and had lots of helpful resources and practice exams posted on GS for students. He also is a lenient grader and does his best to ensure students succeed in his class
Daryl Cooper was an Amazing Professor he really cares for his students he is always making funny jokes in class while still staying on topic. He has iclicker points which really help your grade at the end of the quarter. I will really miss waking up at 9am just to go to his class lectures.

I'm sad to know he is retiring as he truly is one of the best, most caring teachers at UCSB. 34B was a great class, and not too difficult as long as you payed attention in lectures, which D.A.R.Y.L made easy with jokes and well structured class content. As a first year, Daryl was such an amazing example of an enjoyable lecturer. His lectures were very engaging and easy to understand. There were multiple homework assignments due every week, but nothing unimaginable. One of my favorite professors ever!! His exams were in an interesting format, but easy nonetheless.
I loved D.A.R.Y.L fall quarter so much! He was extremely funny and a great explainer of the topics. However, for me calculus was very difficult. Just prepare for weekly homework assignments and make sure to study weekly, it will definitely help.
D.A.R.Y.L is a great professor. He is very kind and caring with the way he teaches in the lectures. He's a comedian in lecture and he will respond to your emails quick. The exams were online and previous study guide exams were very helpful when it came to the actual exam. I would love to take his class again !
Homework and midterms are ridiculous little riddles that make the most simple concepts more convoluted than necessary. He also grades on if you do it his way or not, such as by finding the real integral of an expression using the real-world way being marked incorrect because he wanted the answer to be the area of the square+triangle under the line
This guy is amazing i love darryl so much. I wish he could be my professor for every math course. 11/10 for darryl the man is a straight stud. he works jokes into lectures and keeps it light and funny which is very nice, he is a great teacher and the homework isn't too bad. super amazing guy wish I could take him again.
D.A.R.Y.L is an amazing professor. He sometimes will respond to emailed questions within minutes. His lectures are entertaining, and the material is broken down into manageable segments. It's easy to pay attention in his lectures because he breaks it up with jokes, and videos! Definitely use CLAS for this course, Lee is an amazing tutor!

Professor Daryl is very understanding and supportive. You can tell he loves what he does. There is a bit of a larger homework load, but it's doable and not too hard at all. Exams aren't too long, as long as you study and pay attention, you'll be okay.
The professor makes learning Calculus easy through his easy-to-follow logic and funny mnemonics. It is super easy to ask a quick question during office hours. He wants everyone to succeed!
During the summer, Daryl contacted his students sharing information about the class and how important it was to make friends. He's the most understanding Professor I've met so far, and I truly am so grateful to have been in this class. He's a great teacher, never failing to make the class erupt in laughter. TL;DR for D.A.R.Y.L's class: You're either going to love or hate him, his think-outside-the-box-word problems, and his lectures. I found his lectures engaging, his lecture slides poor (far too many words, were sometimes convoluted, and no room for digital notes), and his word problems extremely frustrating. Utilize CLAS. Lee is an awesome tutor!
Daryl makes learning mathematics a very fun experience and there was never a dull moment during lectures. Be prepared to have to actually critically think about problems rather than memorizing formulas and step by step equations.
Cooper was an interesting professor who made calculus a tad harder than it may have had to be. He would start with example after example and homework problems before actually teaching the basic ground work for the concepts. The homework was simple and everything was online so it made grades very accessible. Told lots of jokes too while on stage
Daryl is a great guy, lectures were entertaining, but not required. Class was great review from some topics you might have previously learned, and added in new topics in a great way as well. Medium courseload, medium content hardness, overall would recommend to anyone!

A very engaging and understanding professor who creates a great learning environment, I felt comfortable coming to him with questions and concerns. He also gives credit for just participating, so do the homework and attend lecture!
The lectures are enjoyable because of the jokes from time to time which I liked. There is a lot of homework, but it works out fine if you manage your time well. All of the tests are online which was great for me because I get test anxiety. Overall, I highly recommend taking this class with Daryl. His accent makes the class fun too.
