Very funny! You need the book for some of the homework so I suggest you get it. I never understood CALC in high school but he made it easier to understand.
Cooper's a funny professor and makes lectures interesting. The math isn't very hard especially if you've taken calc before. Also if you do all of your homework and participate with iclicker then he will boost your grade to a B for effort.
The class is definitely manageable however if you ask the teacher for help he simply tells you to ask a friend so don't expect individual answers from him. Attend all your classes and sections and you should be fine.
If you've taken calculus before this class is really easy. But the professor can be really confusing when explaining concepts. Basically do the homework and you're going to pass.
Doesn't teach material very well. A lot of homework assignments. The book isn't written well and barely helps at all. But the book is needed for some graphs and homework problems.
Easy class, just study the practice midterms and finals
I'd like to start off by saying Math is the most hated subject generally. But Prof. Daryl doesn't go by general standards, he makes the class fun, I actually got A's on midterms (CLAS and homework help alot!). Overall very good teacher can't wait to take his class again in Math 34B. He even gives bonus points for effort!! come on!
This class is probably going to be really boring if you've taken calculus before, but trust me it's easy.. Just make sure you do all the homework and know how to do the problems before the midterms and you'll do just fine. Would definitely take him again for another class! There's a curve at the end so you'll easily get a B.
Cooper keeps you engaged during your lecture and his practice tests will really help you on the real ones
I expected 34 A to be like high school calculus, but instead it was a lot of algebra, word problems, conceptual thinking, and finally towards the end some basic calculus. If you hated word problems before, you'll learn to hate them on a whole new level. Be sure to use your iclicker as it counts for class attendance.
three hw assignments per week, 10-12 questions each. He's a fair grader who acknowledges afford. He posts three practice midterms that are very similar to the actual midterms. If you go to clas and actually study on your own you'll be fine
Awesome guy, made me interested in math. Easy algebra, he is interested in you making the functions and formulas.
Greatest professor I have had to date. I loved this class and would absolutely take it again. Go to lecture, do your homework and you're good. I have hated math my whole life but this class and professor made me love it. I'm considering crashing his next class because I loved it so much. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Easy class, only took it to bump up my GPA. Everything I learnt in the class was just overview from highschool.
His lectures are somewhat confusing and he doesn't really talk about what is important. I learned mostly everything in section and CLAS. Its not a hard class if you do all the homework and clicker and go to section you are almost guaranteed a B!
If you took Calculus in High School then this is pretty much review. Tests start off hard, just get easier. Cooper's jokes can get annoying, but everything in his class is doable.
Copper is obnoxious. He tries to be funny but if you look at the way his class is set up and the way he actually treats his students you'll see he doesn't care if his students faills. Basically, either you know the material or you don't. He won't help at all! Sunday final, excessive hmw, must attend class monday after TG or you fail 3rd MT
He tries to make lectures funny and interesting, but clicker points pretty much require attendance. Three assignments a week, usually around 10-12 questions. His lectures don't prepare you for the difficulty and bewilderment you will encounter in homework. The only time you're likely to open the text is to look for the answers in the back.
He's super funny and I didn't mind having his class in the morning since it woke me up. I took both 34A and B with him and got As both times. As long as you do the homework and know how to do the practice midterms, you should be all set. CLAS helped too, especially if you get Laura. She's the best CLAS tutor ever! Definitely would recommend.
he funny
Gist of class: 3 MTfinal, checks attendance, weekly hw, uses powerpoint for lecture, gives a math problem wo explaining content expecting you to solve it. If you dont get it, youre told to "ask" the person next to you to teach you. Spends more time telling jokes than teaching. Class taught in lecture hall making it hard to clarify any confusion.
D.A.R.Y.L. is the bomb!
Cooper was great! I never understood math in high school but for some reason, his class made it click. He's known to be annoying cracking his 8am British jokes but I still loved him. Make sure you sign up for CLAS because he can be unclear sometimes. Easy to get a B, and A's are definitely manageable. Don't need the book
If you've never taken calculus, prepare yourself. Go to the lectures: he works out a lot of problems and most are iClicker questions. Homework modules are frustrating and the text is useless for self learning. Other than that, just study the practice exams and you'll do fine. Also, go to section; I hardly went and I could've gotten a higher grade.
