Daryl is a great professor, and even funnier person. A 50% final to go along with 3 midterms, but it's not as scary as it sounds. All tests are based off similar problems given in homework and lectures. Section attendance was mandatory but due to the strike, all students got 100%. Lectures always include funny jokes. Highly recommend Daryl.
Daryl is one of the best professors out there! He makes up hilarious jokes during lecture, and never makes class boring. About 3-4 homework per week but they're super helpful in preparing you for the midterms and final. He also provides homework hints if you get stuck. I took this class without ever taking calc, and I found lectures easy to follow!
Daryl is a great professor. He is really understanding and gives tons of resources to help you better understand the subject. Loved his jokes every lecture.
Daryl is by far one of my favorite math teachers I've had. He is very caring and has funny jokes. The class is mostly based off of homework and test. The homework relatively easy, but if you're stuck he also gives homework help videos. He gives you the weekend to do the midterm/final. I highly recommend him!!!
Since we had a strike for the latter half of the quarter, we didn't have sections which made it a bit harder to learn the material but he has resources that help more than you think. Final was take home but worth 50% so I had a 95% before and still needed an 85% on the final to keep an A. Overall totally worth waiting until you can take Daryl.
Daryl is a very accessible professor and provides great examples and guidance in his lectures. He is always willing to answer questions and provides great examples of practice problems for his exams and homework problems. He also helps connect students with study groups and his exams were all online with plenty of time to complete them.
First day of class, Daryl made everyone practically die of laughter. He's a great guy and cares about his students. 3 homework assignments per week, but usually can get them done quickly if you pay attention in lecture. Puts his lecture recordings online, so you don't have to worry about missing class if you need to! Overall very good class.
Daryl was one of the best professors I've had. Lectures are hilarious & engaging. Course is easy to understand if you attend lectures. Lots of homework w/ some hard problems but if you use CLAS, your section, or go up to him after class to explain, it is very manageable. It's clear that he cares about making sure each of his students succeeds.
Very chill, but humorous class. Daryl is a really great professor and shows he cares. Always tries to make it an exciting/intriguing class. Easy going guy and extremely helpful especially his homework hints! Definitely taking 34B!
Daryl is the best!! His midterms are online and posts them usually 2-3 days before they're due. A few homework assignments a week, but they're not difficult if you take good notes. He posts everything online so missing a lecture won't kill you. Love this guy. Best professor I've had yet.
I LOVE PROFESSOR COOPER! He is so funny, charismatic, and super chill. There is homework every other night and 3 midterms and one final which were all online. I highly recommend going to CLAS as this helped me to prepare. As long as you study the practice exams and look over lecture notes you will be fine. Best class to take for calculus!!
Very nice and easy-going. He makes lectures entertaining and never boring. Tests are online and pretty simple. You will mainly be doing word problems and about 3-4 homeworks a week. Will definitely be taking his class again for 34B.
Really funny in lecture, going to lectures was 5% of the grade and section was mandatory but only 5% of the grade. Class is super easy which is good since it is a beginner math course. Homework really prepares you for the midterms. Hint videos for homework problems if you are having trouble. Super great overall!
Daryl makes his lectures very entertaining and worthwhile.
Great teacher! Lectures are always surprising and fun.
There is a decent amount of homework, but it was useful for practicing/studying. Plus he provided hint videos if you got stuck on a problem. Lectures were well put together, not too long, and I found him pretty funny.
Math was always my worst class, but this is the 1st time in my life I got an A in the class! Daryl was extremely helpful, had memorable lectures, and overall a great guy. He genuinely cares for each student and wants us to succeed. The best prof in the math dept, Id even venture to say top 3 teachers Ive ever had. Wish he could teach every class!
Daryl was the absolute sweetest professor!! Lectures were pretty easy to follow and he found ways to make them interesting. Any class taken w him will probably be enjoyable.
Daryl is one of the best professors ever. He is so caring and very considerate! The class is mainly homework and tests and you get multiple days to finish his tests. He's also very funny and explains the concepts in an easy way. I took this class without having taken calculus OR pre-calc and I could understand everything. Highly recommend!
One of my favorite professors yet! 34B was basically the same as 34A, except Daryl replaced the midterm and final with 5 evenly-weighted tests throughout the quarter. Very fun and kind prof! Textbook not needed, but he uploads a PDF version to the gauchospace anyway. Great teacher, but this class is very different from AP Calc classes in HS.
Super fun prof who clearly cares about his students. HW due 3 times a week but he would frequently extend deadlines (did so for some exams too). He uploads lectures to GauchoSpace but watching them is your responsibility. Daryl is easily accessible and even uploads HW hint video tutorials. Lots of word problems, but not too difficult! :)
Daryl Cooper was honestly THE BEST!!!! He very thoroughly explained every new concept that was introduced and was simply a really good teacher. I took both Math 34A and 34B online, and had a very enjoyable experience!!
I had Daryl for both 34a and 34b. He often extends the deadlines for the homework and provides video hints. The lectures are pre-recorded but there are sections on Zoom where you meet with your group (about 8 students) and a TA. Overall, the material is not difficult and mostly involves word problems.
I had Daryl for both 34A and 34B and he is one of the best professors I've had so far! He really cares about his students and is very considerate. The material is easy to understand and the lectures help with homework and preparing for midterms. I definitely recommend!
