Word problems are really hard but he explains really well and asks a lot if anyone has questions. Powerpoints online are helpful and take each example step by step. Book is also helpful. And he's hilarious.
It's a semi-easy class. He definitely made the class enjoyable with his silly jokes and the two minute videos he would play at random points throughout the course. He is great at explaining and appears and is very approachable.
Don't get me wrong, Cooper is a good teacher and the class was good but if you took AP Calculus in high school, you'll think this class is bs. But it's required...enjoy!
Cooper has a way of making the topics more understandable. He doesn't try to confuse us, unlike some professors that forget the perspective of students. His class is fair.Lectures and explanations are online.Practice Midterms are provided.CLAS is helpful (but depends what you want out of it).If you're willing to understand the topics, you'll do fine.
Very enthusiastic about teaching, I'm really glad that I was able to take one of my classes, he made me really like math. The test are kind of hard which is why I'm probably not going to do so hot, but I definately learned so much as compared to high school!
I enjoyed his class so much this quarter. He did examples in class that were step by step and easy to understand. I have never enjoyed a math class so much in my life and I would have liked to have taken 34B with him the following quater but sadly he wont be teaching at UCSB next quarter. Overall great teacher who has awesome jokes!!
Cooper is a really funny guy who keeps the class interesting and fun. He's a really good professor, I really enjoyed his class
I had Cooper for both 34A and 34B. He kept class entertaining from day one. If you follow along in lecture with the iclicker, then lecture can be very beneficial. He gives a lot of effort credit. So even if math isn't your best subject, if you put it effort (i.e. attempt hw and attend lecture) you can at least pull a B in the class :)
Funny guy. Easy class.
Great professor. Understands his audience and attempts to tailor his classes in a way to makes calculus less boring. Granted, his jokes are hit or miss...but overall, best professor to take for the 34 series
Lover the Jokes Coopah! I enjoyed the class and leared a lot. keep it up :)
pretty cool guy, eh integrates and doesn't afraid of anything
34 A was really easy, I took honors math all throughout high school, including calc though. The midterms are very similar to the practice midterms. 34 B is a little harder, but I should still end up with a B+. The midterms aren't bad but the homework can be hard so going to CLAS was helpful.
Super funny. Does not really explain things very well and sometimes goes to fast. CLAS really helps for this class.
It's hard to be a good math professor, but Cooper gets the job done. Best choice for the 34 series. Not a hard class if you go to lecture and study the practice tests. As with any class, a good professor doesn't guarantee a good grade. You have to put in the effort.
This class is very easy to get a good grade in if you go to class and section, do the iclickers questions and do the homework. the tests are way easier than the homework and are all problems you will have seen in lecture. section is purely for you to ask questions and get help. I didnt have to study much besides doing the practice tests. easy A.
He is a great teacher. Do all the HW, go to class, and go to section. As long as your understanding everything from that and watching the wording of the problems that he gives you then you will do fine. The only complaint is sometimes his HW questions are retarded because they are right but you have to switch signs for some reason.
easy A
Great Professor, Always funny, tries to keep you entertained. He posts up his lectures online so if you ever need to review anything the step by step process is always there. The midterms & final is super easy. He gives extra credit points on the exams & if you attend section it helps you out a lot. Overall, great professor, easy class (Math 34AB)
Take this class. Cooper is such a great teacher. He knows what he's talking about and explains everything very well. You'll do fine as long as you go to class and do the homework. He allows a notecard on tests which was very helpful. Not hard to get a good grade. awesome teacher!
Enthusiastic, practice exams are pretty straightforward and similar to the actual exam
Go to class, do your homework, and you will do great!!
If you have to take the Math 34 series take Daryl Cooper. IF you go to class and do the homework, this math class can be extremely easy.
Daryl Cooper is fantastic. He completely renewed my love for math. I relearned everything I failed to learn in high school, and actually kind of enjoyed it. Weird. Don't take 34A from anyone else!
