CHEM1A . 19 Years Ago

Horrrrrriblee Prof - can't understand a thing he says and he does not seem very interested in teaching. Van Koppen is supposed to be much better.

it is very hard to keep up with the notes in his lectures because he puts up overhead after overhead and there isant much time to sit back and take in the information. I found it much easier to attend van koppen's lectures and take the test's in his class. his southern accent is hard for some...

You do not really need to attend his lecture, it is just a waste of time. I got an A in his class all depents on my self study. He mumbles all the time, so you do not really understand his lecture. Easy test if you use the note sheet. Don't take him if you can choose someone else's class.

dude he's totally easy, i definitely missed my fair share of classes and still got an A. you dont have to go to class if you can just learn from the book examples. know how to do those and you'll get a B at least. Nice old guy.

He talks in turbo speed and very unclear. Even U sit in front row, U cant understand what he said. overall, he doesnt know how to teach and and like a human slide machine coz he change transparency so fast and U dont hv time to copy.

Awful mumbling problem with an accent and goes way to fast while you franticalled copy notes off the overhead. Good thing though, way easier tests than Harris and goes over sample problems in class. PLUS, you get cheat sheet in all tests

Sounds exactly like Boomhower from King of the Hill. Class is spent copying down overheads while he mumbles way ahead of where you are. He just "reads" what's on the transparencies and keeps on repeating "don't worry we've got plenty of time."

If you follow along with the notes in class you will be fine. He goes over many sample problems in class which is what the tests will be like. At first, hard to understand, but you get used to it. You could do worse.

Can't understand him, mumbles into his mic with hillbilly accent. I stopped going to class. He complains about his stupid rotator cuff. Exams are pretty hard and not what you expect. First midterm consisted of 4 problems worth 20 pts each. Stay away, stick with Van Koppen if you can

Just take everyone's word and don't take his class! He's an old man who mumbles on and on. He can't really explain anything...he just reads from the overhead. The only reason I go to lectures is to get the overhead notes. He also gives hard midterms.

I have to say that he is a nice old man. Seems he knows his chemistry, but its REALLY difficult to understand what he's trying to say AND copy down his overhead transparencies (which, thankfully, he types up). I don't want to say he's a BAD teacher, but if chem isn't your best subj, then take CLAS!

This guy is the worst teacher I have ever had. Do not take him if you want to learn anything (if you are taking this class I assume you want to). His tests aren't that hard, but whats the point. If you are forced to take **** than do CLAS.

He just rambles on and you're so focused on taking down his overheads you don't comprehend anything. His test was a little hardcore for my taste. He loves combustion and stoichiometry.

He is the human powerpoint, since you can't understand anything he says. Take CLAS and grab old test. His notes are very good and alot of the test come off that.

very easy, nice teacher. However, can't teach jack. I didn't get anythin' he was talkin' about. You won't learn anything unless u read the dang book. nice guy, though.

hard to understand what he's saying and his writing is horrible. his tests are pretty easy but the curve really sucks. Curve after two exams was 200-170 = A, 169-140 = B, 139-45 = C. Sucks for those trying to get A's. Average was around 115.

RUN RUN RUN! im very good at chem but he explains NOTHING and is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. super nice one on one, but still very hard to understand without having hold of old tests. curve screwed up becuase 1/2 class has old tests - if not u get 40%

**** is boomhower from King of the Hill 30 years down the road and probably owned slaves back in his childhood in tennessee. Likes the Bucko wine at Trader Joes and I swear he came to class **** one day. Entertaining to say the least.

I put that he is retired because he essentially is. He stands in front of the class and tells you something about he should retire and you just think for the rest of the year why didn't you retire?
