Class is pretty easy to follow just keep track of the syllabus schedule. If you get behind you have to watch the lecture vids which are not too long but make sure to somewhat keep track. The midterms are non-cumulative so it is not as stressful too. Overall very good class choice.
Taken spring 2021, class was async. This class was extremely easy! There are 4 midterms, each worth 25% of your overall class grade, no homework/projects. The week before each midterm, the TA would post a review video. I would watch the review video then immediately take the midterm and I got an A+ in the class. Take this class!!!
Easiest class you will ever take in your life. Readings are unnecessary, all you really need to do is watch the short lectures she posts every week, and the tests are word for word from the powerpoint slides. Definitely recommend taking this class as a GE or as a GPA booster.
Press is a great choice for a GE or dance class! She has detailed lectures and only content from assigned work is present on exams (not much). Exams are very straightforward, so I would recommend reading all the content she requires and being prepared before the tests. Tests are totally doable, and TAs are helpful. Super helpful through email too.
Prof Press was awesome. She is obviously very passionate about dance and knows her stuff. Lectures are easy to understand and take notes on. Review sessions were helpful before exams. 4 exams each worth 25% of the grade. If you watch the lectures and review sessions you will do great.
This class was an easy A, and Professor Press gives you everything you need to do well. She is well organized and clear in what you will need to be successful.
Easy class as long as you watch the lectures - they cover basically everything there is on the exams. Grade consisted of 4 non-cumulative exams worth 25% each. Questions were fair and weren't trying to trick you or anything like that. She's clearly passionate and knowledgable about dance and makes it interesting even for those who aren't art people
Definitely take this class for an easy GE! In times of covid, the class is much easier and your grade is based only on four multiple-choice exams, nothing else. Lectures are short and not much outside reading to do. I did not do the optional reading and still received an A+.
Dr. Press's class was amazingly adapted for online learning. The material was interesting and easy to understand. Grades were calculated by four exams (including final), which were easy to prepare for. I definitely recommend this class!
Super easy GE credit. Took this online for fall quarter and easiest class I took. Grade is based on 4 tests, but each test is easy and open notes. Questions come directly from the lectures so just make sure you take good notes.
just take the class, literally the most doable GE I've ever taken. Covid might have helped alleviate the rigor of this class but overall, Dr. Press is there to do her job and is passionate about dance. Take online if you can; you save yourself $60 in recital ticket purchases.
Her lecture is very clear and straightforward, and the exams are mainly from the original lecture points, which makes this class easy. That also means you will definitely fail if you don't listen to lectures.
I loved Dr. Press & this class (taken Fall 2018)! This is an easy A if you just pay attention & take good notes & I definitely recommend taking it as a GE. It legitimately took me 20 minutes (out of the allotted couple of hours) to finish the final exam.
I LOVED this class! Her lectures were very clear and the videos she posted were very helpful. Tests were directly on material covered in lecture because not everyone had access to a textbook. I thought she handled the online transition very well!
I loved the way she handled the transition into online. A lot of video based questions. Everything is through the videos and lectures she posts. Very clear grading.
Easy class to get an A in if you pay attention. All multiple choice. The downside is attending dance shows which cost around $60, but it was a fun experience for me with a friend in the class. Her final is based on post-midterm one material. She doesn't post powerpoints online. Tries her best to involve the class. She mixes videos in for a break.
Her lecture slides are important so don't be late or miss class. Midterm and final have some tricky questions. Three dance concerts that cost $60 total. Not necessary to read, just go over her lecture notes.
Honestly. This class is really easy if you take it pass/no pass. IMO, the course was boring, but I needed that area F. Just take it pass/no pass if you just want the GE requirement and do not want to put in work.
Dr. Press is a kind lady, but her class was relatively boring. Clicker makes it mandatory and the slides are kind of all of the place. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK- I didn't read any of it and still got an A. As long as you take notes on the powerpoints in class you'll be fine. Mandatory performances to attend which were annoying as they cost extra money.
Would recommend this classes but you definitely have to go to lecture. The reading is totally unnecessary because everything you need to know is on power point. Everyone complains about the concerts but they are super easy (you literally walk 3 min from the transit center and you're there) .
She's really deserves more like a 3.8 general rating. She does her job well but there is a large amount of material covered. All test are mc questions, but contain all of the above, both b and c, and none of the above answers. If you don't study/listen in lecture you won't pass, the test aren't east to guess on. If you study ALOT, the test are easy
The class itself isn't that hard BUT you have to go to 3 dances shows throughout the quarter ($20 each), the lectures are super boring, lots of people to memorize, and she uses an iclicker so you have to go to class. I didn't buy the textbook and easily got an A, but I hated going to class to take notes.
Professor Press is a sweet lady, you can tell she is very passionate about the subject. The lectures were entertaining since you got to watch all the dance videos. Don't bother buying the textbook, I didn't and I'm fine. I slacked a little in the class and got a B. Not complaining though.
Dr. Press is a sweetheart and class is easy if you follow along in lectures. the final was significantly harder than the midterm. those two are 80% of grade which is heavy.
