Excellent Professor who does something that very few do- teaches you how it is in the REAL world. I cannot over emphasize how overlooked this is in college. Despite being obviously super busy, Prof. Greathouse still finds a way to help in office hours, after class, etc.
If you're anything like I was, you're going into your final year at UCSB and still have no idea what you want to do when you get out. Prof. Greathouse's inspirational Entrepreneurship class lead me into the amazing world of start-ups and helped me to discover my true passions. It's a MUST take.
Best professor I've had in college. You will learn many business tips with many example of his life as a successful entrepreneur. No final, but be ready to write tons of short papers!
John is one of my favorite professors at UCSB. If you are looking to transition to the working world, taking his classes will refine your mindset and put you on the right track for success, especially in sales. John's not an academic. He's a seasoned businessman and he will expect results from a simliar vein. If you can't hang dont enroll.
He's a legend. Literarly
Greathouse is an awesome professor. His entrepreneurship class was inspirational and I'm really glad that I took it. Definitely learned a ton and it helped me get my current career. Even if you don't know if entrepreneurship is for you, I would still take it as it's one of the most useful classes at UCSB.
John Greathouse is an inspiration. Of all the professors I have had, he is one of the few that still had an effect to me to this date. He really cares for his students' success and helps you shift your mindset to really believe in yourself. He's the man
John Greathouse is the best. He is passionate, practical, and not boring at all. His class explores the concrete steps needed to start a company. That being said, the class also requires a decent amount of weekly work. If you work hard, you will get a good grade. If you have an interest in entrepreneurship, this class is 1000% worth taking.
John is for sure a great professor! This class is not easy and has a lot of work. However, you don't learn anything if there is no work right? Don't expect an easy A from this class. Yet, try hard in this class, because no matter what grade you get from this class, the experience you go through will be beneficial in your entire entrepreneur career.
Professor Greathouse is one of the best professors, and people, on campus at UCSB. He helped me immensely before and after graduation and his classes are the only ones I draw from since leaving the University. I still reference my notes and I even hold meetings at work based on them, in order to teach sales skills to those that could use it.
Professor Greathouse keeps it real. The class is involved, but extremely useful if you commit to it!
John is a genuine person who goes to great lengths to prepare his students for the real world. If you're interested in business, sales, technology or startups, take any of his courses, you will NOT regret it. Not only is he the best professor I've ever had, he is also a partner at a top ranked VC firm, Rincon Venture Partners.
This was easily one of the most useful and practical classes I took at UCSB. I have since started my own business and this class was very helpful in learning to think entrepreneurially. There are a lot of assignments that can seem like busywork but they actually do help train you to think like an entrepreneur. Great prof! All his classes are good
This class had a pretty aggressive workload but it was worth it for many many reasons. This was my first Greathouse class and it inspired me to take his other ones.
Greathouse is by far one of the greatest professors that I've had at UCSB. He has relevant experience, great stories, a clear and manageable class agenda, and he teaches you how to sell. Plus, the job postings before class are awesome!
Pretty much one of the top professors I ever took at UCSB. He knows his stuff. Best professor at UCSB for Entrepreneurship and also very helpful at office hours. I recommend him!
Pretty much one of the top professors I took at while at UCSB. He was very clear and instrumental at UCSB. He taught me the importance of entrepreneurship, business, and of having class and professionalism while working for a top tech company. He knows his stuff and is willing to talk to you out of class if you request it. Very personable.
John is one of the best professors that I ever took at UCSB. He even took the time out of his day to mentor me for more than 30 minutes on my career objectives. Who does that? Only great professors do that. He knows how to teach and guide students well. I highly recommend him to anyone that is thinking of studying entrepreneurship at UCSB.
Awesome class that will prove immensely beneficial when you join or launch a start up. Take the class and the projects seriously, go to John's office hours, be as engaged as possible. If you put the effort out you will have a great mentor the rest of your career. Thanks John!
To put this simply, John is a boss. If you want to learn from a boss on how to be a boss, take this class. Not for the weak at heart. Not for the lazies. This class is for those who want to make it in this world... And I promise you will.
Plain and simply, John is a badass. He is a 3x entrepreneur, venture capitalist, Wharton MBA, and inspiring professor. His courses are applied and deal with real world scenarios that you will actually experience after leaving the academia bubble. If you want to learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, take his new venture class and hold on tight.
If you want to take classes that will actually be relevant to your career after college, take John's courses. No BS - there wasn't any better, real-world context I received in college than from the speakers, stories, and project-based learning in those classes. If engaged, it's easy and rewarding! If you want something to skate by, it will be hard.
Jon's real world business experience and success serves as an excellent foundation for all of his courses. With an open minded hands on approach to teach Jon goes down in my book as one of my greatest and most influential teachers. Highly recommend!
John is a very inspiring professor, and he is really committed to helping his students succeed. He is one of the best professors at UCSB that I have had.
