Price genuinely cares about his students and lectures extremely clearly. He is definitely the best of the 1A professors, so everyone will try for him and his lecture fills up fast. Although his teaching is very good, he cannot pass the class for you. You will still need to do all of your homework, book problems, and practice tests to do well.
Awesome prof! Lives up to hype, but admittedly his tests are a lot harder than his lectures make them seem. He does post previous quiz/midterm/final so take advantage and practice off those. iclicker replaces lower quiz & final replaces lower midterm so even if you mess if in beginning, you can do well. Just study & put in work. Take if u can!
Incredible teaching style - concise powerpoint slides and doesn't include superfluous info on his slides like what most professors tend to do. Tells you exactly what you have to know. made chemistry very easy to understand and uses a lot of analogies that make very difficult concepts easier to understand.
Dr. Price is the man. Definitely recommend him if you need to take the Chem 1 series. He is a great lecturer, and is SO willing to help. I was in his office hours a few days before the final exam, and he stayed an extra 2 and a half hours just to help all the students in his office. That being said, still not an easy class. You have to work HARD.
Price is a really engaging professor. You can really tell he cares about teaching and the subject itself. You have to do the book problems as they commonly will reappear on the quizzes and midterms just slightly altered. Take advantage of office hours, practice problems posted on the slides of the lectures, and review sessions.
best professor I have had at UCSB. He is very clear in his lectures and tries to engage students. Highly recommend taking him for the CHEM 1 series. I had him for all three, but did the best in 1C. Tests can be tricky! So, go to office hours, review sessions, and do recommend book problems and practice exams and you should be fine
Very clear instruction. Friendly. Couldn't ask for a better professor. However, exams have somewhat convoluted/tricky questions that require a great knowledge and deeper understanding of the material. Don't take the resources/practice problems for granted: iClicker, lecture, textbook, previous exams.
He posts recommended book problems from the 7th and 6th edition. I repeat : HE POSTS BOOK PROBLEMS FROM THE 6TH EDITION!!! SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY AND BUY THE SECOND TO NEWEST BOOK EDITION AND YOU WILL DO JUST AS WELL IN THE CLASS! Great professor, explains concepts in a way you understand. Best professor in chem, take him if you can.
Price's 1A class is tough if you aren't already familiar with chemistry. Keep up with the ALEKs homework as it helps you relate topics together for tests. For all tests, he expects you to take what you learned, and combine multiple ideas to find the answer. He is still a great teacher, and very helpful, both in class and in office hours.
super chill guy. Basically everything you need to know for the tests are either in the book, past tests, or notes/aleks. There really isn't any surprises just do the work, pay attention and you'll be fine. grading isn't too strict either on the tests, he gives out partial credit on the tests for commonly missed questions.
Scott is an awesome person! Very personable and wants his students to well. Had him as a lab teacher at SBCC and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else as a teacher.
Price is the best chemistry teacher around. He teaches exactly what he expects you to know for the midterms and final. Go to all the lectures, do your Aleks, and if your struggling sign up for CLAS. He's also funny and approachable. So thankful he was my professor. He really cares.
He's one of the only professors I've had that genuinely cares about their students. Very approachable and very good at explaining complex topics.
OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR! Always entertaining demos and great teacher. He always encourages students to ask him for help when needed. Prepares you excellently for exams and quizzes. He teaches Chem 1A and Chem 1B. I almost cried when I found out that he doesn't teach Chem 1C.
Dr. Price is honestly the best professor ever. His lectures are super clear, and his demonstrations are super cool. Though I didn't get the best grade this quarter, an A is definitely feasible. He gives plenty of opportunities to replace bad grades, as he replaces a quiz and even a midterm. Gives partial credit on multiple choice exams too!
If you study the way he tells you to and stay on top of things from the beginning, you will be fine. Don't fall behind, its hard to catch up.
I love Professor Price dearly. He is probably one of the best educators I have ever has the privilege to cross path with. He will spend as many time as needed to explain a concept to you at his office hours and he is so good at explaining concepts too. His lectures are amazing, both entertaining and extremely helpful.
Amazing teacher. Just all around fantastic.
Dr. Price is amazing. Super tough going into chem first semester cold turkey but if you actually follow his study plan, go to CLAS, and make it to office hours at least once a week, you'll make it :)
Scott is the easiest chem professor. He is very funny and helpful! He wants you to pass. Chem was not my subject but if i studied harder i would of done better.
Absolute best teacher at UCSB. Prof. Price's lectures are clear, and although his tests are tough they're manageable if you study. He holds study sessions on weekends and truly cares about the success of his students. Oh and he's obviously super hot.
Scott Price is the best professor I have had here at UCSB. He really cares about his students' success. Gives so many resources and exam prep help. He is always clear, and curve helps you out in the end. He does such a great job of explaining calculations that you never have to read the book. I can't wait to have him again next quarter!
Price is an amazing chem professor. He's hilarious, knows his stuff, and makes going to lecture fun.
I had Price for Chem 1A and Chem 1B. He is an amazing, wonderful professor. Although the concepts for Chem 1B can be harder with thermochemistry, as long as you do textbook problems for additional practice, you should be fine. His exams and quizzes are fairly similar to his released examsquizzes. His office hours are helpful.
