During the final exam, Dr. Price kept walking back and forth, saying 'she is simple nurse.' After the extreme chaos in the examination room, he remained silent, then shouted 'she is silly,' 'she was very smart,' 'I am upset about the class,' 'she...' He never apologized and offered a compensatory solution for such a rare test room management issue.
Professor won the Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award in 2018 and is the chair for the Committee for the Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award. Don't know why he chose not to manage the order of the classroom and the final exam room of Chem 1C at all in Fall 2019, and even yelled in the final examination room with his TA and students.
In the examination room, professor price dramatically didnt care about his TA and students yelling dramatically loudly together in the classroom for no reason and disrupting the order of the examination room. He even didnt reply to students when they called his name, stared at him, and spoke loudly enough to him that Price is moral!"
Dr. Price taught knowledge clearly and accurately in class. However, after the appearance of chaos in the classroom and examination hall, effective management and handling were not carried out in time, which further enlarged and exacerbated the problems. Some of his words and deeds in the classroom are difficult to understand and uncivilized.
Wonderful professor. Explains everything clear. Tries to make the class interesting. Final is hard but curved.
Dr. Price completed the content of the course and offered relatively good course materials, but he had uncivilized words and deeds in class and brought personal moods into the class, needing to strengthen the management of the class and examination to play a positive role in guiding students. Hope to further improve personal career quality.
Had Price online my first quarter in college. Not a bad professor, nice guy. Midterms are difficult and heavily draw from practice textbook problems. ALEKS helps a bit but not a ton. DO BOOK PROBLEMS and I recommend office hours as well. Final was extremely difficult and brought me down a lot, barely passed.
Great professor. Probably the best gen chem prof at ucsb. His class format (lectures, practice problems, aleks) prepares well for the exams. Exams are kind of hard but that's just how chem is.
Price's lectures are easy to understand. Do the textbook problems + practice exams and go to CLAS!!! His midterms were fairly reasonable and reflected what we learned. However, his final was more challenging so make sure you know the content. Chem is a hard subject but Price made it easier. If you're willing to put in the work, you can pass!
He's a really good prof, but I failed the class cuz I didn't the book problems, and let me tell you, you don't do the book problems, I can guarantee that you'll barely pass the class. The midterms and finals are very hard, but the lectures are easy to understand, do the book problems and the practice tests, or else you will fail the class.
Price gives great lectures and are easy to understand, but his tests reflect barely anything that was on the lectures. Failed the class and have to take Chem1A again cuz of Price's tests. His lectures make you think that you know what's going on them the exams really ruin the class. What I learned is that you MUST do the book problems.
His lectures actually make sense- he explains things in a way that's easy to understand even with not much chem background. Midterms were reasonable(assuming you do book problems/practice tests) but final was much tougher(included types of problems not practiced before so you had to be pretty comfortable with the content). Overall highly recommend!
Price, the man, the myth, the legend. I have never met a professor who strived to put everyone of his students up for success. He regularly emails instructions to prepare for the following lectures and is very detailed oriented. Overall, the course itself was abstract and difficult but he made it quite interesting and put in work to be accomodating
ayo the final was bad ayo
love the guy but the final was way harder than any of our other tests.. wish he had given us practice tests that were more similar to the final because the practice tests he had given were hella easy.
easy A , do the assigned textbook problems and you will ace every midterm. ALEKS is time consumable but helps with your overall understanding of the course. lectures are informative and easy to follow; never had to read the chapters from the textbook to fully understand the concepts
I think Price is one of the best professors for Chem 1A. His lectures are really clear and easy to understand and he incorporates examples that really secure your understanding. He tries to make funny jokes and pop culture references in his lectures and he's an overall great guy. There are 3 midterms and you can drop the lowest which is really nice
Im not the best at chem, but Prof. Price is an amazing lecturer and made concepts easy to understand. He explains everything clearly, and does some examples throughout lectures to make sure you know how to apply certain concepts. Tests are fair, similar to practice exams he puts out. Do the textbook problems for practice, and dont fall behind.
I took this class after almost failing with a different prof, and this man is the reason I understand chemistry. Lectures are simple and easy to understand, always available to ask questions. Really cares about his students and loves teaching and you can tell he enjoys what he does. If I had had him as my first chem prof, I wouldve stayed in stem.
Daddy price is literally a chem god. Hes the best gen chem professor by FAR. I had him for 1A in person and 1B online (due to COVID-19), and there honestly wasnt much of a difference in how thorough his lectures were. He cares about his students, and wants to see them do well. Dont slack on the book work! A lot of exam questions come from there.
He is great! He really wants to provide help for students who struggled with the course and explains materials well!
Price is an amazing teacher! I took chem1A with Joseph and got a D, but got an A- with Price. He thoroughly explains every concept and his lectures are easy to follow. He also does multiple example problems/calculations so you know what to expect on exams. Just go to class and take all the practice quizzes/exams and you will pass!
Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't show up you're gonna have a hard time. I absolutely love Price and I genuinely think that he's the best chem professor. He's very organized and clear. He even sends out emails after lecture that gives you a summary of the lecture, review questions, recommended book problems, how to prepare for tests
His lectures are easy and clear to be understood, and he can explain the concepts pretty well. The exams are easy as well, and you can get a great grade by attending classes, doing homework, and doing practice exams. I am taking CHEM 1B right now but with another professor, who makes me miss Prof. Price sooooo much!
