I loved Price. Best professor at this school. He is so clear and concise.
Fantastic teacher! The gen chem series is meant to be challenging, but he does a great job at breaking it down. He really gives you everything you need to succeed, it is just a matter of whether or not you are willing to do the work. Definitely take his class!
Great professor but hard class. Chemistry is such a hard subject but Professor Price makes it somewhat enjoyable. Definitely the best chemistry professor I have had so far.
Chem 1B with Professor Price was really tough but he's a great guy and a solid lecturer. He's super accessible outside of class, and willing to help/give advice. He's also a very generous grader. Chemistry is obviously a hard subject, but Price made it as smooth and easy a process as possible, and I really enjoyed taking his class.
Prof. Price does give really difficult tests but his instructions for doing well in the class are very clear and there is every possible resource to succeed in the class available to you. His lectures are clear and well-organized. You can tell this prof. knows how difficult learning chemistry can be and actually cares about his students' learning.
Lectures on the online portion are incredibly detailed and easy to grasp. All three midterms were reflective of the practice exams and notes he provides. However, the final itself seems to stray from that pattern making it hard to believe that it came from the same professor. Despite that, your grade should be equivalent to the effort you put in.
Tests were really hard and book problems are a necessity
Price is an AMAZING lecturer. He's been doing this series for 10yrs, so he knows what students typically struggle on, so he is able to give the best explanations on those topics. He's very accessible through email and gives thorough answers to any concerns or questions. Makes the content digestible and easy.
The grade for this class is based on 3 midterms (the lowest score gets dropped), a final exam, in-lecture questions, and ALEKS. The lectures were pre-recorded and Dr. Price does a good job with organizing and presenting the information. However, the exams are very difficult and watching the lectures alone is not enough to pass.
Prof. Price is pretty good at teaching! His lectures were clear and pretty interesting. However, his tests (3 midterms and a final) were horrible. I did all of the homework, started studying one to two weeks before each test, and took handwritten notes for all of the lectures, and still struggled really hard. I think Chem 1B is hard no matter what.
Price's lectures are clear and the material isn't too hard to grasp. The issue was the final exam, it was pretty difficult in comparison to the recommended book problems and practice exams we were given. He has an issue of making things seem like they'll be easy, then boom, a difficult exam.
I never actually met Price, but his recorded lectures were great. He explains every step and gives you tips on how to approach problems. He also gives you recommended book problems. He is by far the best CHEM 1A-B professor. Responds to emails reasonably well. Exams are 16 questions/1hour, so time isn't bad. Expect at least 2 or 3 curve ball ?s
Price is probably really good in person as everyone claims, but online school is not for him. He gives good lectures, is really nice, and really cares if you ask him for help; however, his tests do not reflect his lectures nor the book problems. They are insanely hard. Some questions are about things he does not even teach. The curve is laughable.
Prof price is really good and explains concepts really well but his tests are insane. I did all the books problems and practice tests and went to every office hours and still struggled on his tests.
His exams are unrealistically hard. Questions are not really testing your understanding of the concepts but rather designed to trick you. I did all the book problems, practice tests etc. but still struggled. It seems to me Price is trying to prove he can create the most tricky Chem questions at UCSB. Don't agree with any of the positive reviews.
Professor Price is definitely the best Chemistry teacher in the department. His lectures are thorough and he provides detailed explanations. My main issue is that despite doing all textbook questions and practice exams I really struggled on tests, especially the final. It can be frustrating when you feel like its impossible to do well.
Ngl Professor Price is not worth the hype in my opinion. Maybe its because of the pandemic or I just dont do well with his teaching style, but his exams are awfully hard for no reason. As someone who has done a lot of practice on bookwork, attended tutor sessions, and have done practice tests. The exams are not an accurate representation of me.
Professor Price is a great option for Chem 1B. He explains difficult concepts clearly and he's a really nice guy. His midterms are reasonable; as long as you watch the lectures, do ALEKS, and rework the textbook problems, you should be fine.
I took the entire gen chem series with Price (both in person then online) and was only able to pass when he was the professor. Lectures are very clear and organized. His explanations are super detailed and thorough (which I needed). Chem is never easy but 10/10 take any chem with him if you have the chance!
Took 1B with Price after failing it once before with another prof, and did significantly better. He just explains everything in such a simple way and makes sure to cover plenty of examples in class. His tests are also fair, whereas others I feel make the tests significantly more challenging than what is even discussed in lecture. Def take Price!
VERY good at his job, he is an amazing professor and does a few in-class demonstrations in order to help students visualize the concepts he is teaching. He is very passionate about his work and is thorough when teaching. I did terrible in high school chemistry but aced his class!
I had him for 1A/1B and got A's in both. He's an amazing lecturer. Adapted very well to online. This quarter however there was a HUGE curve - an entire letter grade up - but don't expect that to be the norm. The thing that makes the class hard is the tests b/c they're short on time. Study practice tests and book problems. ALEKS not that helpful.
This dude was so good at adapting to online classes. Apparently he's planning on using the same tech to record lectures in the future so you'll be able to rewatch anything you missed or didn't understand. Chem is hard, Price is amazing, curve is fat.
love this guy, definitely recommend him
