Price is as amazing as everyone says he is. He gives incredibly thorough lectures and is clear about what he expects from you in order to succeed in his class. DO THE TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS if you want to get a good grade.
Good guy, he puts book problems on the tests so do them! His midterms and final are VERY hard, almost like he wants to trick you... even with the practice tests they are hard because they combine several concepts. Do ALEKS and CLICK - it replaces a low grade. Lecture/Note heavy- covered a whole year of high school chem in 10 weeks.
Price was my most organized and prepared professor. Before and after each lecture he sent an email what we went over in class and what we should practice and do on our own. If you do everything he says in the emails, it will help you a lot in the class.
Great professor! His lectures are amazing and hes super nice and helpful during office hours. His exams are a bit on the difficult side, but he offers practice exams online so those help a lot! Definitely do the book problems for extra practice or do CLAS.
Wonderful teacher! Great at explaining the subject matter and always willing to go out of his way to help students. He even holds review on the weekends. Chemistry is hard but he is 100% the best chemistry teacher out of all of them in the department.
Im awful at chem and hes 100% the best chem Professor out of all of them (Ive had three others as well)
Great lecturer, tests were definitely harder than expected however if you do all the book problems and aleks you should be good to go. GO TO OFFICE HOURS.
Loml!! My favorite professor at UCSB so far. Def recommend taking him. Great lecturer, efficient, and youll learn really well I promise.
His lectures are so hilarious. But his test gets harder and harder as the quarter goes by. Definitely a good professor. Make sure do you do book problems.
Price is one of the best chem professors at UCSB; his lectures are concise, and he really goes out of his way to reword the material in a way that makes sense to the students. However, STUDY STUDY STUDY and enroll in CLAS, because the tests are so much harder than he lets on. I failed only because I'm bad at chem, not because of his instruction.
Had him for 1A and loved him. He's the best chem 1 series professor, so if you can get in his class, take it. He's funny, he won't nail you for missing a lecture or homework here or there, and his tests are about as easy as it gets for a curve-dependent class.
Price is without a doubt my favorite professor at UCSB! I've had him for two quarters now and his lectures are definitely top tier. Also, his notes are really concise and easy to understand so I'd recommend printing those out for lectures. He's a really easy person to talk to, and will never make you feel like an idiot. I'll miss this one.
Scott Price is such a character. He made lecture interesting and made the topics clear. He explained the problems step by step and gave everyday examples to make the topics relevant and easy to understand. There were also many opportunities to raise your grade with ALEKS, iclicker/quiz replacement, and midterm/final replacement.
Price is a great guy, I love his personality and he's super intelligent. I recommend taking CLAS because the material can be kinda tough and the more practice the better. Only thing I hated were his crazy grueling tests. Did everything I could to study and still could only pull a C on the final. Feel like I deserved better. But overall great class.
Price is AMAZING! He made chem my favorite class first quarter. Don't get me wrong, get ready to study... I averaged about 20 hours per week just for his class. Definitely the best lecturer out of all the gen chem profs. DO THE BOOK PROBLEMS!!! The practice tests and ALEKS are not enough to prepare for exams. Excited to take him again next quarter
Made lectures interesting and easy to understand. Keep up with the reading and the assignments and you should be just fine.
Daddy Price is a great guy, but don't go into his class assuming that just because he's an amazing lecturer that you don't have to put in as much effort. I failed his chem 1a class and what I learned from it is that the book problems are actually crucial to doing well in the course, and that the other professors really aren't as bad as they say.
Best Chem teacher at UCSB. Great lecturer. Strait forward/ easy tests if you do the practice tests.
I LOVE Professor Price. He is an amazing lecturer and genuinely wants students to do well. If you go to lecture and do the book problems, you have a good chance of doing well in his class. He is the best.
This man is a Chemistry God. I could tell you, in very specific rhetoric, how much I love this man. But I won't. Just take this class, take any class he teaches, and just enjoy him. He's smart, he's kind, he is the best teacher I've ever had, he helps you outside of class, he's got it all. Just actually do the book work and study. Enjoy.
Professor Price is a great lecturer. If you attend an keep up with all of the lectures and do all the practice quizzes, you can do very well in his class. If you took AP Chem, that's all you have to do. If not, do the book problems, and make note of all the questions you find difficult and ask him how to solve it. ALEKS is annoying but it helps.
This quarter I realized I really sucked at science but I do not regret taking Price's class at all. He was the best professor I've had my first quarter. He does not teach extraneous information that will not be needed in the future, he teaches what is necessary. He also holds review sessions and posts resources on gauchospace for students to use.
Such a great teacher who gives us so many resources! I feel like I took it for granted and kinda blew off this class, though. Don't do that!! Price is honestly such a great teacher
His lectures keep you engaged and are very organized. He is really helpful during office hours and the class isn't too hard if you study a little bit every day. Price is such a fun teacher and makes class fun
