CollegeLiterally the hardest class I've ever taken. Lectures were so boring. Tests were extremely difficult and very different from practice quizzes; questions were extremely specific. 2 midterms and a final were worth the majority of your grade. Lecture slides aren't posted, so if you miss class, you're done for. I don't recommend.
Rice is an engaging, funny, and passionate lecturer! Class is graded mainly on 3 quizzes, no recorded lectures, and required textbook reading for the quizzes. It made no sense to me that the average for all the quizzes were D's and C's, Rice puts the exact same questions on the practice tests on the quizzes. Great prof made a boring topic fun!
If you want to fall asleep in class, then this is the perfect class for you. Quizzes are so hard, even if you go to all the lectures, you still won't do well. Lots of slides aren't posted, so if you miss the notes in class, you're cooked
Lol don't know why this professor is so highly rated. Half the class dropped after the first midterm. Material was abstract, boring, and useless. You're graded on 3 exams, 1 paper, 1 group project, and 5 other activities. Studied 15+ hours for the final and still got a C on it. If you have a life, don't take a class with this professor.
Prof Rice is a fantastic teacher. The class was genuinely interesting and engaging. If you attend lecture, you shouldn't have to do much outside reading to get an A. If you skip you'll have to read to catch up because the slides on their own aren't enough without his commentary during lecture. Syllabus is intimidating at first but not too bad!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. He is hilarious and an exceptional lecturer. He somehow made me look forward to attending a 5 p.m. class. The assigned book was the first one I've genuinely enjoyed reading in college. There is an online version so it's free.3 in-person tests. Test questions are basically handed to you.
