The English Renaissance represents a late blossoming of the general cultural ?rebirth? in Western Europe characterized by the recovery of Greek and Roman classics, the celebration of the multifaceted individual, and a renewed emphasis on the secular world. Alternately labeled ?the early modern period,? this era also saw the voyages of Columbus, the development of the printing press, the Protestant Reformation, and the rise of centralized monarchies. English writers expressed the vitality and volatility of the Renaissance/early modern period in an outburst of prose, poetry, and drama that spanned the end of the sixteenth century and the beginning of the seventeenth century.

I don't usually leave a comment but professor Andrea is amazing. You can tell she is very professional and knowledgeable. She loves what she taught and she teaches well. Would definitely take this class again

There are a lot of readings each week. However, as long as you read them all, it's not hard to get an A. Besides, Prof. Andrea is very caring. Whenever you ask her a question, she will answer it very carefully.

Professor Andrea is very kind and understanding. she will honestly try her best to help you pass the class as she canceled class lecture 1 time so she extended the rest of the quizzes.

I'm really glad I took CLIT30B. It may seem overwhelming at first, but if you do the lectures and readings you will be fine. I ended up spending around 4-5 hours each week and found the final pretty easy. The quizzes are unlimited attempts, and the essays are open-ended so you're free to write about what you please (given certain sources).

I loved CLIT 30B, and this is coming from someone who usually does not like to read and analyze. She has so much knowledge on not only the literature itself but the historical context, and is very put together. Papers are straight forward and if you put time in and follow directions you will get a good grade. I also recommend the honors section!

She is not nice. Attend her lectures or you will not get good grade. Does not listen to students or understanding at all.
