Good teacher, inspired me to care a little about the European Renaissance when I previously would have never cared. The class was pretty easy as I did very little of the homework. However, the homework readings were often very fun so I would recommend reading them. Very easy to get at least a B in the class assuming you do all the work and show up.
Attendance is required, prof really cares about the subject matters. Do the readings and you'll be fine, however there is a lot and weekly reading quizzes but they have unlimited attempts.
Obviously very passionate about what she teaches. I really enjoyed some of the readings, but homework was assigned last minute and assignments had little structure, including a presentation which was a decent portion of our grade.
One of the best professors I've had at UCSB! Very light weekly readings (never more than 20-30 pages) and she breaks down the readings very well in lecture. She knows a lot of people are taking the class for a GE so she is very accommodating and doesn't overassign work. She makes renaissance lit very accessible, could not recommend this class more!
I don't usually leave a comment but professor Andrea is amazing. You can tell she is very professional and knowledgeable. She loves what she taught and she teaches well. Would definitely take this class again
There are a lot of readings each week. However, as long as you read them all, it's not hard to get an A. Besides, Prof. Andrea is very caring. Whenever you ask her a question, she will answer it very carefully.
Professor Andrea is very kind and understanding. she will honestly try her best to help you pass the class as she canceled class lecture 1 time so she extended the rest of the quizzes.
I'm really glad I took CLIT30B. It may seem overwhelming at first, but if you do the lectures and readings you will be fine. I ended up spending around 4-5 hours each week and found the final pretty easy. The quizzes are unlimited attempts, and the essays are open-ended so you're free to write about what you please (given certain sources).
I loved CLIT 30B, and this is coming from someone who usually does not like to read and analyze. She has so much knowledge on not only the literature itself but the historical context, and is very put together. Papers are straight forward and if you put time in and follow directions you will get a good grade. I also recommend the honors section!
She is not nice. Attend her lectures or you will not get good grade. Does not listen to students or understanding at all.
Professor Andrea is extremely organized and this has been one of my favorite classes so far. The workload is the same every week and the midterms are just two essays. If you are not comfortable with writing don't take this class, other than that it's extremely interesting and extremely manageable. Forum post every week and weekly reading quizzes
winter 2022 went online. Not recommend this class for non-English speakers or ppl not into literature. Do not take a class that fulfills both area G and WRIT. The prof is nice but the content is just difficult and the grading solely depends on TA. Powerpoint is not clear for review and there's no interaction during class.
