At first, I was intimidated by Price. After going to his office hours, I realized that he's really nice and helpful. However, you really have to work hard in order to succeed in this class. Do book problems consistently and get help early. Go to CLAS and choose Sarah! She helped me get through Chem 1A and Chem 1B. Attend every lecture (iClicker)
Price is a great professor! The class is difficult for the exams are challenging. However, attending his office hours and doing book problems will help significantly on the exams and especially the final! Definitely take Scott! #priceisright
Take him! Dr. Price sends out emails and keeps the class updated. I was surprised at how organized he was, and it helped me stay on track. He is very helpful, and sincerely wants his students to achieve. Chem 1B was a hard class, but I really enjoyed learning from him. Awesome Professor!
If you have the opportunity to have Scott as your professor, do it. If I ever have a professor who is half as helpful, kind, and caring as him, I would be so grateful. He tries to help everyone and even takes time out of his day to do so. During dead week, he will extend his office hours. He holds review sessions before every exam. Do bookproblems.
His lectures are straight-forward, and at times, entertaining. Tests were reasonably challenging, but if you heed his advice about doing book problems, you will succeed. CLAS and SarahChem are huge assets to reinforce lecture, and they give you good questions that show up on tests. The beginning is tough, but the class gets easier. :)
Really good professor. He sends helpful emails about the book problems you should do and the chapter readings. Do not fall behind in the class! The class starts hard and gets easier so don't give up. Good luck!
Professor Price is a very good teacher. He goes well into detail, but he also paces himself so that he teaches all that we need to learn. He really cares about his students. He is also willing to take time out of his day to make appointments with students who need it. Very nice and sweet; very easy to approach as well. Would definitely recommend.
Professor Price is probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. His enthusiasm for chemistry definitely keeps people interested. He is very helpful during office hours. He's a great guy, very nice and he cares about his students. Would definitely recommend him if you need to take chemistry.
Very good professor. Genuinely excited about teaching chemistry. Like, his enthusiasm made me want to go to lecture. Didn't study well and received a C, but that was my own fault. Huge curve really helped. Best chem professor, I think. He's also really hot. Really. Hot.
Great professor!
Excellent professor; the best teacher I've ever seen in an academic setting. He is funny and brilliant & extremely helpful. He sends tons of emails with prep & review questions, and emails his presentations in advance. You can see he genuinely cares about chemistry & wants his students to be as excited. Consider yourself very lucky if you get him.
Best chemistry professor i've ever had
Price is a great professor. His midterms and quizzes had some tricky questions, but their difficulty was balanced by the huge curve implemented at the end of the course. His lectures were always helpful for the homework and his lecturing style is conducive to note-taking. He is a good speaker and is well-prepared for lectures, highly recommended.
Price really wants his students to do their best and tries to make chemistry exciting/interesting. It's in your best interest to go to lecture- he has slides on Gauchospace, but writes on the whiteboard to accompany those slides. He sends out e-mails and follow-up problems to do. You must commit the time to understanding the concepts.
If you go to office hours to get to know him, it really helps out in terms of learning the material and him remembering you when it comes to grading you on improvement if you're not doing as well as you could. Great professor!
Tests are hard but the curve helps. Price genuinely cares for his students and tries his hardest to help them out. He gives good advice for studying for the class. Listen to him. He knows what he is talking about.
He is probably one of he nicest professors you will ever have. Really hard and challenging class, but take advantage of the emails he sends before lecture, they are very helpful. Do the book problems, take CLAS, go to office hours, make your time on ALEKS as efficient as possible, and an A is certainly possible. Study hard though!
Price was great at explaining concepts clearly. The tests were challenging and he expects a lot from his students. Overall I really enjoyed his class, he made chemistry fun and interesting and has his students' best interests in mind.
Such a great guy! He genuinely cares about his students and makes sure they do well. If you do everything in the email he sends out before every lecture, you're good to go. His midterms and final are definitely a battle to get through, but it's understandable. He is always ready to help you with your questions. It doesn't hurt he's amazing looking.
Excellent professor who really loves chemistry and loves to teach. I really appreciated his emails on the daily on what we should expect in class and what we should do to prepare. CLAS helped as well. 2 midterms and 2 quizzes which were very do able and final was cumulative of the entire class focusing on concepts that everyone missed.
Scott is an Amazing person. He's passionate about his work and cares about his students. Judging from other students, his class became increasingly harder, but he's usually generous with the curve.Fair warning though, out of all professors I've met so far he's the hottest and youngest one out there so it's easy to get distracted. I know I did =)
Price is a great guy with a lot to prove in his dept so his final is always unforgivable. It will bring the brightest of students to their knees even if they completely know the subject. I adore him though - he's 100% helpful and his lessons are straight forward. He made what I was told would be the worst class in the gen chem series pretty fun.
He takes care of his students by sending daily emails about the upcoming lectures. He explains everything well in class but his texts are on another level of difficulty. He really makes you work hard. He is also nice during office hours.
He can explain fundamental concepts well...but he expects way too much from you on exams (if you want an A that is), you must make many leaps on your own to gain that A. Unfortunately many of these ratings make Dr. Price look like the holy grail of Chem profs at UCSB...but I would say he is of average quality just the same as all the other profs
