A very knowledgeable and intense professor and a very interesting subject. Would be better if the class was smaller and the only people who took it were people who actually cared about the subject. In my opinion, if anyone complains about this class they have only themselves to blame.

He seems like he would be really chill and a cool guy but in lecture he just talks in circles. I wish he would stick to a point, go into depth on it and then move on, instead of touching on something only to come back later. I wish he could have put his slides online so I could spend class time writing down what he says. It was ok, interesting.

We agree with the person below except one of us got a 72% on the midterm. He SUCKS. But actually reading the textbook probably helps. but who does that. He definitely makes up words...and makes an effort to confuse people. Oh and he'll yell at you if you ask him to slow down....poor brave soul. <3 R and K

The professor seems to go out of his way to use difficult words, which makes him sound incredibly condescending , and to speed through his slides without gving you a chance to write anything down. The midterms are easy, but that's practically the only thing that saves this class. Class is BORING. Another professor might be more interesting.

Okay. I'm pretty sure I have learned nothing so far, and I'm an anth major. All his lectures are the same (complete with the same slides). He seems incredibly pompous and enjoys using unneccisarily large words to try and confuse freshmen and project the image that university is more difficult than it actually is. Do not take this class from Hines.
