I was nervous about taking a speech class and he made it so that everyone was comfortable delivering speeches. The book required does help with the speech process. I feel lucky to have been able to take this class and i learned a lot. Im no longer terrified of getting up and speaking in front of the class. Totally recommend, you will love him.
I hated this class. He always used fancy words to make himself sound smarter when all he was doing was making lecture more complicated. He was never there on Fridays...he always played a movie. It won't matter if you skip that day because as long as you have notes on the movie than you are fine...but the movies will be on test. Go to section!
really liked
I know a lot of people hate him, but I like him personally. I agree that he's not a good teacher though. If you get to know him personally (which I did), then you'll see he loves to help his students. It doesn't matter now since he left UCSB.
Horrible professor. Hes rude, out of line on most of the things he says, and uses ridiculously large words that usually dont make sense to the sentence. DO NOT take his class....
this guy uses big/"smart" words and expects everyone to know it. Fairly easy class though.
Basically an unorganized class. There was no system of attendance, tests, or papers...Just had to go to class and do the readings. The whole grading system was based on "surprise writings" assigned within the class time...which he graded hard on. I will never take him again!
i thought this class was really easy. i barely read at all and got an A-. hes a good teacher and he repeats a lot of stuff so if you miss a lecture its easy to get back on track. his tests were so easy- basically verbatim from what he says in class. just go to lecture and you'll be fine!
WORST TEACHER EVER. seriously, so bad.
I don't know why people keep posting that he is such a terrible professor. Lectures CAN be boring, but overall, they were alright. The tests were extremely easy. Basically,if you do the readings, study a little bit,and attend lecture, you'll get an A. If you only attend lecture and study a little, you'll get a B.
I stopped wanting to be an Anthro major because of him. He grades unfairly and is mean to students in class.
The way he graded the midterm and final was unfair, he changed the grading system halfway into the quarter. i do not recommend taking this course.
