One of the best professors I've ever had. Extremely passionate about history and really tries to make learning fun for students. He is clearly very very intelligent and wants everyone to learn. Highly recommend.
One of the single best professors I've ever had. Funny, engaging, interested in the subject. Barely touched the textbook, 1 Midterm, 1 Final, study and you'll be fine.
Had Professor Yaqub for a U.S.-Middle Eastern policy course and absolutely loved it. The lectures were interesting and he's clearly very interested in his topic. Grading was fairly easy (although he nitpicks on grammar) and his occasional voice impersonations tend to be spot on. Would take again!
Professor Yaqub is easily one of the best faculty members in the History Department. Apart from being an interesting class, Yaqub made it easy to digest and entertaining. Grading consisted of two papers (5-6 pages in length) in class participation and a final exam. The readings were always really interesting, never once did I feel bored.
Taken 2 classes with Prof. Yaqub and he's easily my favorite Professor I've had in my four years here. His lectures are engaging, fun, interesting, and just generally enjoyable to attend. I was genuinely sad on the few occasions I had to miss class. He's very approachable & incredibly knowledgable. Can't recommend a prof more. Take any class w him
Great professor, have had him for multiple classes. Extremely knowledgeable about almost every aspect of US foreign policy. Classes were 2 papers and a final. Definitely doable but you have to do your part of the work too. Recommend for everyone to try and take a class with him
amazing lecturer. one of the best professors i've had so far. his lectures are super interesting and entertaining. class is not mandatory but i always wanted to go. class isn't easy but worth taking.
Attendance not mandatory, but his lectures are very helpful and fun. Use the textbook every week plus the reader. Fair grader
Amazing and entertaining lecturer. He made everything come to life. The supplementary readings were very helpful and interesting. The tests were not too difficult as long as you remained on top of the material. However the amount of reading he assigns per week can be insane at times. The class was probably my favorite this past quarter
Prof. Yaqub is very entertaining and explains things well. Makes lectures very entertaining. You really do get a better understanding of History and he makes learning fun. Eric Fenrich was one of my favorite TAs. He is a very fair grader whom will help you if you need it. Try to get him for section.
I really enjoyed this class and professor. Not only was he a good speaker but he presented the material really well-using movie and documentary clips; a lot of reading (only the Reader ones are really necessary) midterm was IDs adn one essay final is IDs and 2 essays but possible prompts were given in the studyguide. TAKE this class with him! :D
Knowledgable, courteous, and enthusiastic. Prof. Yaqub wants to be in the classroom teaching students. He brings a wide variety of material to class. He does some hilarious impressions of history's celebrities. Approximately 100 pages of reading weekly, but it is not wasteful. I highly recommend this professor.
Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the topic.Lecture was interesting and fun. My favorite professor thus far. Definitely recommend taking his class.
Way cool teacher, made lectures interesting with enthusiasm and jokes
Loved this class! You could tell he knew his stuff and enjoyed teaching it. Definitely not an easy A but if you put the effort in its a good class.
Class is not difficult if you do the reading and go to the lectures. He makes the lectures interesting by showing movies and playing funny songs.
Extremely knowedgeable guy. PhD from an Ivy league school. 2 6pg papers and a final. Not very difficult if you apply yourself to the papers. Interesting topic (US-Middle East Relations).
Dynamic professor, well informed, interesting lecturer, will definitely take him again
