YAQUB S
First off, Professor Yaqub is a good teacher. His lectures are good, besides them being blatantly left learning. The major problem is that he grades so tough with almost no feedback. The class is graded on two writing assignments, and two tests, both of which are written. Most people get ridiculously low grades on these. tons of reading too.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS on this campus. His lectures are very engaging and storytelling. Does a really good job of boiling down complicated history topics. reading heavy but no homework.
One of the best classes I've ever taken. Super in-depth history, surprisingly engaging and interesting. Definitely need to put in thoughtful effort into the required section participation. Not easy, but incredibly rewarding if you put in the effort and pay attention, which isn't hard because he's a great lecturer.
Prof. Yaqub is very knowledgeable and has good information-packed lectures but can be hard to follow since the slides have minimal text. Clear essay prompts, pretty easy if u go to lecture. Learned a lot would take this professor again!
Good lecturer, wasn't a fan of the over 80 slides a lecture and lack of outline as someone who handwrites their notes. Eventually, I figured out to jot down what he says and make sense of it later. TA dictates your experience, but if you talk to him, he does listen to some crazy stuff they pull sometimes. Loved talking to him, and passionate guy
Prof Yaqub is a funny guy and I appreciated the video clips, music, and jokes he included in his lectures. Paper instructions and final were straightforward. However, I really didn't like how he read off an outline for the entirety of class. It made it hard to stay awake, and it's a shame since the content's so interesting.
