She is the best professor I've had here at UCSB. Easiest A I've ever received. Her tests are literally right off her slides and the class is super interesting. LOVED her. Definitely take with her.
Great lecturer. Material is interesting, she keeps lecture interesting through the use of funny, applicable video clips. Go to class; she really goes further in depth than the slides do and you cannot miss the videos. She does not use a book which is really nice.
Awesome class & great prof! Lectures are very interesting & enjoyable. Slides are posted before class so you can follow along during lecture, but you should still need to go to class to get all the info. No textbook is required! She's a good lecturer & very clear. Grades are based entirely on exams, which aren't too hard if you go to class & study.
German has this tone to her voice that makes it really hard for me to pay attention in class, but the way she teaches the class makes it really easy to get an A if you do the reading and attend lecture. Don't slack off but if you put effort in, you will get an A :)
I absolutely love Professor Woods! I am currently in the third class she's taught and I've loved every course. She's giving me a letter of rec for grad school, and she's helped me through every course. She's awesome - take advantage of office hours!
Had her for 3 different classes. She's good for psychology, but terrible for biopsych courses. Why? Because she attempts to teach a mechanism from a bunch of poorly summarized bullet points. I enjoy learning, especially bio, but these are unbearable! Not only that, but she contradicts the book! Avoid Avoid Avoid if you actually plan to learn!
German is an excellent lecturer, but this is an extremely (almost disappointingly) easy class. Do not expect depth.
She is a great professor, very interesting lectures. I do not like the fact that your grade depends on two tests. Her test questions are awkwardly worded and confusing.
This class was extremely difficult, but what I expected from "behavioral endocrinology". The average was 75%, and she seemed to think this was pretty good. Barely any questions were from texbook, all lecture. If you want to pass, record her lectures and go over powerpoints many times.
My favorite professor at UCSB - she could make Psychology of Watching Paint Dry interesting. Posts the slides online, but you need to go to class because a lot of the slides are just examples from studies that she elaborates on. No text book, so make sure you take good notes. Tests are fair, literally right off the lectures.
Highly recommend. All material is interesting and fairly easy to memorize. She also includes many videos of babies! Lots of oohs, aahs, and laughs in class. No book, everything is online. Be lazy and don't go to class if you want (you will miss out on the videos that really help with the concepts), but this class is so fun that you will want to.
Loved everything about her. Only downer is that she goes through the material quiclkly. Don't even need to buy the book- everything that appears on the test is in her slides. Go to class, take good notes on her print out slides, study, and you're good!
Awesome professor! Made class entertaining with video clips that made the material stick. Good sense of humor. Very fair tests. Highly recommended!
Such a great professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go since there is not textbook for this course. Class is fun so you should go anyways :) There are 3 test and she post a study guide for each one along with lecture notes.
VERY Easy class, no textbook. However powerpoints are not very organized or clear, but if you understand material tests are easy. Only midterm and final for grade, if you do bad on first midterm, second midterm grade erasers first one.
This class isn't hard, no textbook, however the powerpoints are not very organized and if you do not go to class, trying to study for the tests off of them is not helpful. Entertaining videos and interesting information, could be better at organizing the concepts. The tests are wordy and a little harder then some expect. Easy class overall
Very intresting lectures, gives videos to keep concentration, all notes online, really fun course, my best psyc course at UCSB so far - only thing is I was sure she was called Tamsin! Report this rating
She was alright, nothing special. Her lectures vary from extremely boring to extremely entertaining. It seems to be a hit or miss. There are no book readings which is nice. However, if you don't go to lecture, just studying off of her lecture slides and review sheets is almost impossible. Her tests are also annoyingly wordy
Her lectures are incredibly entertaining, clear and humorous. She has a quick wit and a dry sense of humor and uses clips from recent shows and films to make points clearer. A really great teacher and i would recommend any class she teaches. Favorite psych professor at UCSB.
BEST CLASS EVER!!!! She is an amazing teacher. Clearly teaches the material, tests are fair, doesn't use a book, uses online forums for guidance, and is very helpful during office hours. Lectures online but I recommend going to class. She uses funny examples and clips to make the class fun and clear!
Great professor. Clearly teaches and tells what she expects from her students. Lecture slides were online, book was optional. Grading was fair and midterms were fairly easy.
Easiest class! No reading, lecture slides online, and she is super clear. I literally ACED both midterms! over 100% with the bonus questions. even though you won't need to, i recommend going to office hours cause she is a freaking genius!
Easiest class ever! Lectures online. Tests are only based off of lecture because there is no book. Even though you don't have to go to class, the lectures are interesting and fun. Highly recommended even if your not a psy major
By far one of my most favorite classes. Material is very interesting, teachers is funny, and lectures are actually very fun to attend. Learned alot. Would defintely recommend taking even just for fun
