She needs to know how to use a microphone because you can barely hear her during lectures. It gets boring to listen to her. Unfortunately, you have to go to lecture because of clicker questions. If you do the reading, you'll be fine for the tests.
Way too much reading and he's very boring. His teaching is very discouraging and like everyone else he assigns a lot of boring and tedious assignments. I wouldn't recommend him, but if you do HAVE to take one of his classes.. sorry.
Soft spoken. Course is so easy though, just go to lecture and take notes on why parts of the stories are Fantastic. Easy A if you dont just regurgitate the plots on the midterm/final.
Very Boring.
Very boring and soft-spoken, avoid if possible. I was very excited for this class, but towards the end it was just terrible.
Worst class. Avoid at all costs. She couldn't answer any questions during class clearly and don't even bother asking questions regarding the midterm- she nor Kosik will give you a straight answer. Was really excited for this class then it turned out to be the one class I dreaded every week.
Apparently everything is "uncanny" and "Fantastic" SO boring and after 4 lectures became very predictable. Got an A is first test because just kept saying the mentioned words above. Got a little creative with the final and got a B even though I did considerably better. Pretty much tell her what she wants to hear. Useless class but not much work.
Although she is soft spoken, she was very clear about her expectations and the tests were fair. The lectures were interesting, but you have to do the reading!
Her lectures are incredibley boring. The exams were easy, but she thinks that analysis is equating everything to the "fantastic" or the uncanny. Nice lady, not bright.
Also had him for 189EV. Really nice guy and funny but gives way too much reading. Lectures are all over the place and are hard to take notes on. Mostly just asks what you thought. Attend lectures bc of quizzes. 70% for your name. Extremely boring material. Avoid him if you can. But he is a cool guy outside of the classroom.
Way too soft-spoken. I could barely understand what she was saying. Her lectures were really boring and not engaging at all. To be honest, I didn't read much, but even when I did read it wasn't helpful. The questions she makes for the tests don't really facilitate understanding of the readings just random facts. Not worth my time for for 3 units.
Soft spoken, but tries to speak up (it doesn't help she doesn't understand microphones or overhead projectors). Her lectures are either all summary or almost entirely unrelated to the text. She lets Kosik dominate, and can't make decisions without his input. Nice woman and probably brilliant, but this class is a waste of her talent.
Neuroscience and the humanities. She was a little dry and kind of soft-spoken, but not incomprehensible (and got loud when students said they couldn't hear). Really clear expectations, fair tests that looked at the "big picture." DO THE READINGS.
Class is pretty friggin boring, but he's really nice! He makes weirdly hilarious jokes. Gives 5 random quizzes, but 70 points just for writing your name, and sometimes he announced them beforehand. Also gives study guides but theyre crazy long. He's really happy and helpful if you go to office hours. I almost never watched any films and got an A-.
Can't stand this woman. All she does is summarize. She has such a soft voice and doesn't know how to use a microphone, let alone speak audibly without it. She made class less interesting for me...which is why I stopped attending... even though I was riskin it cause attendance is mandatory. Still got an A. oh well. easy buttttt cant stand her!
Jullien teaches in the Comparative Literature and French-Italian departments. Her class on the fantastic was very interesting and engaging. Her tests are text-driven, so you have to be on top of the reading and there's a whole lot of it. It's pretty difficult to keep up, although I tried my best. She needs to encourage more class participation.
This was the French film class. Most of the films were good. The instructor is highly knowledgeable, but rather boring, and is a true academic tyrant when it comes to assignments...they will kill your weekend. Overall grade of this professor: C-
Nice guy, extremely boring. This is a class where you can start out being so awake that nothing could make your eyes droop and five minutes in - BAM! You're out. I fell asleep so many times...I still managed a B. Large work load, felt the lectures didn't help at all. I couldn't write any notes because it felt like he wasn't saying anything.
I have no idea what went on in this class. Teacher is witty but the subject matter is just plain boring. Can't blame the guy for teaching a topic such as his. Not very clear most of the time and has a lot of work piled up. I was lost most of the quarter in his class.
If you do your work you'll do fine, don't expect to slack. Lenient, supportive, and easy-going. The subject isn't the most interesting, but he does a good job at making it bearable. Tests are hard but a breeze with the study guide.
Worst teacher ever! Only made it through because I struggled with friends.

The class itself was alright, films were kind of boring sometimes and there's really no lecture, just a discussion. No work other than the written assignments.
boring
