Almost never reply to email and really rude
Tough grader and please don't take this course EVER
Easy and interesting material, but tests are full of tricky questions. Not super accommodating to students.
You will never want to take her class
Zoe is the worst Psychology teacher I have encountered in my three years at UCSB; apart from Erin Horowitz. Her tests are riddled with tricky wording and pedant details. She is immensely un-empathetic toward students and is clearly here for research. I don't know why these people are rating her positively, because she is truly a TERRIBLE teacher.
Ratner's one of the best professors I've had at UCSB so far. He's super chill and has extremely clear grading criteria. He makes statistics almost entertaining and is very clear about the content that will be on the exams. I recommend doing textbook practice problems with lecture slides open next to you, and you'll easily get an A no doubt
This class was deceivingly hard simply because Liberman's test questions can be complex and confusing. You gotta thoroughly know the exact studies and their implications that are mentioned in the lectures. There's no textbook, but a few interesting papers that you'll go through. She's really nice, but the tests are difficult and closed-note.
Honestly the best upper-div psychology professor I have had thus far. He is VERY accommodating (especially during this pandemic). His lectures are so clear, concise, and easy to understand. His examples also make it very easy to understand the concepts. His quizzes are very easy and based on lectures + readings. SOLID PROFESSOR!
Professor Ratner was so kind and compassionate, especially about handling things during the pandemic. Class consisted of watching his 2 lectures a week, reading 1-3 readings, and then taking a weekly quiz in which he dropped the lowest score. The quizzes were timed but open note, which was very fair. Definitely the best class I've taken in a while!
I loved taking PSY152 with Professor Ratner! He is definitely one of the most compassionate professors I've had at UCSB. He is really understanding given the pandemic and he made the resources needed to succeed in the class available throughout the quarter. Overall, one of my favorite courses I've taken thus far in college!
Ratner is an amazing lecturer and professor who is very generous to his students during this pandemic. He drops the lowest quiz score and didnt require purchasing any textbook, which is a huge plus. We definitely need more professors like Ratner. If youre interested in the Social Psychology field, you definitely should take him!
The Prof made a great transition to online class. This class is fascinating, w lots of interesting videos in lectures and concepts that were explained very well. This class was so interesting for any1 interested in psychology. She seems like a really good person too, someone Id be friends with! Favorite class Ive ever taken at UCSB
She's followed by Obama on Twitter but I bet that if Obama met her in real life he would unfollow her. Professor Liberman is not empathetic nor understanding that students may be going through struggles during a pandemic. She's not accessible and she clearly writes in her syllabus that you can not email her and if you do she will not respond.
She really gave us a midterm on election day despite knowing the stress everyone is going through...........
She was not very helpful during office hours. She can be kinda cold and kinda seemed to annoyed to have office hours.
This class had very interesting material that was applicable to current society. Professor Ratner was really kind and accommodating due to COVID-19. Lectures are easy to understand, articles are short and doable, and quizzes are really straightforward. As long as you watch lectures and take notes, you'll be set!
I'm not sure why her rating is so low, I personally enjoyed her class the concepts were very interesting. Honestly just go to class and put in the effort to study and you'll get an A. Grades were mainly based on one midterm and one final. It also had some online surveys and clickers for a small part of the grade.
Prof Ratner is awesome! He made a lot of accommodations due to the remote nature of the course (i.e no textbook required) and is a really caring professor. Lectures and weekly quizzes were very straightforward, no trick questions so as long as you watch the lectures and read the articles, you'll get an A/B.
I really liked her, her lectures were engaging and the tests were quite reasonable. I literally forgot about her midterm and entered with no prep and it was fine, her lectures cover pretty much all the relevant material so if you show up and take decent notes you'll be ok!
Meh. Whole class grade based on two tests. You can retake the midterm which is the only real good thing about this class. Handled COVID poorly, no leniency or sympathy for the students which is funny coming from a psych teacher.
I quite liked her, very straightforwards and lectures were engaging. Lots of cute videos. Pretty easy honestly, with some extra credit available, but 95% of your grade is midterm + final so there's not much hw to boost your grade. No curve because of the extra credit but you probably won't need it.
Dr. Liberman is a great professor, she is really passionate about the material and is a good lecturer. She shows lots of videos and gives lots of examples making the class easier. Attendance is via iClicker and is for extra credit. She also posts all her slides online and the reading is just research articles. Loved the class!
Her test questions are unreasonably difficult. It seems like she phrased them badly on purpose. Also extremely rude over email but is somewhat nicer in person. Would never take again.
I do not understand all these bad reviews! Professor Liberman is a very clear lecturer, she explains things well, and her slides are straight forward. She gives extra credit for iclickers and lets you retake the midterm. The lowest grade I got on a test was a 98%. If you study and go to class, getting an A is TOTALLY doable.
