Price is the best chem professor by far. He is so awesome I couldn't recommend him enough!!
Super awesome guy super fun class occasionally he goes on incredibly long tangents completely unrelated to material we are learning but he is so charismatic it hardly matters.
super enthusiastic and interested teacher. explains things well and homework is minimal. definitely recommend.
He is the BEST professor I have ever met at UCSB. He easily explained hard things. Often go to his office hours, and he will always give you something interesting. However, his TAs are useless and always teach the wrong stuff. Don't trust them, just go to ask the prof. He is always welcome to answer. He is nice and his tests are easy.
THE GOAT OF CHEM
I am in love with Professor Price. I wish I could retake the gen chem series just to see him
i had prof price for chem 1a and 1b, and i highly recommend. 1b has the reputation of being the hardest in the gen chem series, but with prof price, i was able to do much better than i had expected to. make sure to really know the practice midterms, as the tests are very similar. if you want to do really good, do the practice problems!
Professor Price is amazing. His class is fast paced, and it took a couple of weeks to get used to his speedy lectures (took Sylvester's for 1A and her class wasn't as fast-paced). However, his explanations and lecture notes alone will get you through this class. All the topics were so easy to understand.
One of the best instructors I've ever had. Previously took this class with a different prof and failed it, but got a B+ with Price. I absolutely loved the way he taught the material, and made sure to explain everything as much as he possibly could. He also had online videos of the lecture if you missed class or just want to review. A1 guy.
If you're taking Gen. Chem, take Price! Offers two different grading options for students, which means ALEKS can be optional. Practice exams are very similar to the actual exams. Didn't have to attend one lecture as he provides his video lectures from quarantine. Awesome lecturer, down-to-earth, and makes things super easy to understand. The GOAT.
An awesome professor that engages with the classroom. Online material so that you can catch up on anything missed. He lets you choose if you do homework or not but be warned, everything else is graded on tests.
Scott Price is one of the most amazing professors I have had so far. He is so caring about his students and very passionate about what he is teaching which makes his lectures easy to follow. If you have a chance to take the chem series with him, DO IT because if you work hard and drill the practice exams he gives for the midterms, you will pass.
Dr. Price is an amazing professor and I have only positive things to say about him! His lectures are very engaging and he explains all the course material very clearly. Even though the class is difficult and requires you to put in work and time, the material is very manageable. Price has made me love chemistry after taking it this quarter for 1B.
Really good professor, the practice exams he gives out saved my life. If you go to lecture and do the work, you will definitely pass with a B or higher.
Price was definitely my favorite professor in the gen chem series (I had different ones for each chem class). he's very clear and concise with his explanations and his tests were not too overly difficult. loved his class!
professor price is definitely the best chemistry professor at ucsb. even though the gen chem series is super difficult and time-consuming, he makes it as digestible as possible. lectures are also posted online!
Literally the best professor I have had. If you have the option, take Price for CHEM 1A/B/C (I had him for all three). Exams are definitely difficult but very similar to practice exams. Textbook problems are extremely helpful in understanding the material. Overall, great professor. This class made me enjoy chemistry.
Dr. Price is an AMAZING chem professor, couldn't ask for anyone better for Chem1a. The material is challenging if you've never taken a chem course before but he made it as easy as possible. Tests are very fair but there's not a lot of questions on them, so make sure to do practice problems and do all of the ALEKS
1B is not difficult to understand but easy to mess up. However, he maximizes your grade - such as dropping the lowest/missing midterm score, so you will still do well if you do the work. I liked his neat, step-by-step teaching style and online videos. Everything he wanted from us was clear. ALEKS is optional, but it buffers your grade.
As much as I hate Chem, Price is an amazing professor. Responds to emails super quick and truly wants the best for his students. Lowest midterm grade is replaced if you get a higher score on the final, so make sure to do the practice problems and exams. Pretty big time frame to do the ALEKS assignments as well.
I got A-, A, B for the Gen Chem series. There's a lot of debate over which prof is best. If you like exam predictability, take Price. Do every practice problem he assigns and you will get an A/B, and this is a weeder class. He treats his students as adults, unlike Joseph. He explains well. This will be harder than any HS class you've ever done.
Great all around. Very organized, fair, and engaging.
Took in Spring 2022. This class is so easy. I just went to the lecture hall three times to take the exams and got an A, although it turned out the first time was unnecessary since the final could replace a lower midterm.
I struggled a lot in Gen chem and actually had to retake chem 1B, but I retook it with Price and got an A! I took 1C with him as well and also got an A! He breaks down the material in a way that makes it really easy to understand and answers emails almost immediately. He is always willing to help and wants you to succeeded!
