Teaches very well, but compensates by taking test hard.

Very good teacher. Very clear and enthusiastic. She makes you very interested in the subject. The class is not difficult as long as you take the practice tests. The midterms and final are very similair to the practice tests.

Kunkel is probably the BEST professor I had in the quarter . She's very clear and rarely uses slides, just the chalkboard which is helpful taking notes. She also posts videos on Gauchospace of her doing more examples from the lecture's topic. However, the quizes and midterms ARE pretty hard. CLAS helped me A LOT for the exams.

Dr. Kunkel is very nice and very enthusiastic. The class itself was pretty easy and if you've taken Chemistry in high school it should be all review for you. Kunkel is good at explaining how to do all the problems and she posts past tests and quizzes online which are very similar to the ones she gives. Overall she's a very good teacher.

I'm not a Chem student but she made this pretty attainable. Her tests are pretty hard, so make sure to study. She puts old test/quizzes up to study from so that is a great resource to use. There are not many grading opportunities so make sure to be on top of it from the start. She uses the blackboards so make a friend to get notes from if you skip.

She made chem 1A interesting and exciting. You have to go to class because of Iclicker points and some of her in class examples will be on the test. She teaches well and although her exams can be hard, they are pretty fair.

Great teacher. If you went to lecture and stay on top of reading and homework it should be an easy A. She does give a fair amount of homework. Her lectures were fun and interesting, I plan on taking Chem 1B with her next quarter.

Amazing teacher, incredibly nice and passionate. Lectures were very fun and tests were very doable if you put in the time to study. MUST GO TO CLASS!

Tests are TOUGH. You can study for an entire week and end up with a D on a midterm. Just do all the practice tests and some of the book problems. She is very organized and clear, but moves on quickly. Keep up with the class and go to office hours for help. She will help as much she can! Great professor!

I LOVE KUNKEL. I'm not a Chem major, just needed it as a prereq. I knew very little about chemistry going in and left feeling like I had learned a lot. She is very fast paste especially if you don't know much going in. She makes lectures interesting and is HILARIOUS!! I looked forward to going. Extremely helpful.

Very engaging and actually funny prof who clearly explains and breaks down problems on chalkboard which is really helpful. Tests are difficult but releases past exams to use to study. Sign up for CLAS, visit office hours when you struggle, take good notes, do ALEKS, and pace yourself in terms of studying and you will do well. Don't slack off.

Her lectures are clear and interesting, though she focuses more on computations than concepts. She gives many examples, but they are easier than the ones on her tests. Her midterms have at least 1 difficult question. Her final has many difficult questions and mainly focuses on the last part of the course. Hilarious and seems willing to help.

She was a very helpful professor especially during office hours. She took the time out to help students, and she was very passionate about the subject at hand. She also made jokes to sorta help you remember certain concepts. In addition, she tells you exactly what kind of problems you need to pay close attention as they'll be on upcoming exams

Very enthusiastic chem professor. Her exams are fairly difficult but definitely manageable as long as you do her old practice exams. She recycles some questions so that's a bonus. Do the recommended book problems because they definitely help! She doesn't curve each examquiz but there is one huge curve at the end of the quarter.

Love her because she is very upbeat and excited about chem. The class overall is very tough no matter what professor you have. Be prepared for late night studying and preparing for examsquizzes at least a week in advance. Definitely have to work hard for a good grade!

Kunkel is an entertaining lecturer, and explains materials well. I took AP chem, so this class was very easy for me. Did not go to a lot of class and got a high A in the class. I was interested because I'm a bio major, but not enough to ever use the textbook.

Kunkel is the best Chem 1A professor! Her tests were definitely tough, I compared exams to other professors and it was a joke how easy the others were. But, she definitely prepares you for the Chem series and is great at making concepts stick with you!

A very sarcastic person, but explains concepts very clear. She goes quickly in the beginning of the quarter and slows down during the harder concepts. Her tests are fair, but tough. Time is always an issue. So not only should you master the material but you have to do it quickly. She is however a teacher I would take again for sure.

She's very funny and enthusiastic about chemistry! If you go to her office hours she really tries to help you understand the material but you have to do your part and practice the problems yourself first. I took Chem 1a with her the first time and got a D+ but I retook it and got an A-. You just really need to dedicate time

Super enthusiastic, fun lectures, and has really great board writing skills. Tests and quizzes were a little tricky. Must do practice tests and I've heard book problems help (I didn't do them which probably explains my low grade).

I took AP chem in high school but had to take this class again for some reason. Although it wasn't bad for me, I can tell that it would be a difficult class for someone who hasn't taken ap chem. If you put in the work, it will be easy. If you don't it's gonna be really tough. Just do the work.
