I thought Fridlund was very funny in class, but since then I've realized that talking about people with disabilities in a way that can be amusing is pretty sick. Second he was totally rude outside of the classroom and asking him for help is definetly not helpful.
Wow. Fridlund is so hot first of all. Psych 1 yes is a bit difficult as there is so much information. 103 is a lot easier especially in the summer. His classes are always TR even in the summer which is really nice. I hope I can be on his research team next year...hehehe
fridlund is freaking hilarious. the first day, he singled out his son and makes a continuous joke about it. good class as long as you keep up with the reading. if you study with a group you'll do better too.
Funny guy but tests were too hard as they were filled with questions on topics he never really covered, half the class failed the midterm. Must know the reading like the back of your hand if you hope to do well.
yes there are a lot of readings, but since there is so much material you need to remember i suggest not reading at all and just printing out the fair game sheets ahead of time and just studying the terms on there and getting them down. SINCE his class is based on 2 tests that is the smartest thing
He's not boring and can be funny at times, but the class is not the easiest. There's only two tests and there's lots of random, unimportant questions on the tests.
He was really knowledgeable when students had questions, obviously loves the subject. Pretty funny, and had well detailed lectures notes. Fair game sheet is a miracle. If you take this class, make sure it's with him. (Revlin has no fair game sheet)
Do not take this professor. He is not funny, nor is his material interesting. I wanted to be a Psych major when I first came here, so I took this class for fun. It was not fun. It definitely made me not want to be a psych major.
Sooo sweet. Going to this class is like going to a comedy show (sometimes). He makes the class fun and teaches really interesting stuff.
His lectures are well-prepared and presented in class, not to mention he has a great sense of humor. Very laid back guy who has a great presence in lecture. Quite a bit of reading and the tests are fairly difficult, but thouroghly go through the fair-game sheet and you should be fine.
Seriously one of the best teachers at UCSB. As for being hard... he gives you a rally detailed study guide, so it up to you to learn the stuff. I NEVER read and still got an A. You actually WANT to go to his lectures. And MAN is he hot.
AWESOME teacher. He's SO funny. He really makes the material come alive! Tests arent that hard either......as long as you keep up on the readings!
really interesting material, and he's very organized and very clear, giving good examples and throwing in jokes which make it easy for me to remember the concepts. goes off on small tangents every so often, but nothing too bad. midterm and final are pretty easy so it's all cool.
Fridlund's a nice guy and knows his stuff, but he seems to get carried away and goes off topic in his lectures and he bases grades off just one midterm and the final - that's it. However, he was kind to include a "fair-game" sheet that outlines what one needs to know for each exam. Better use it.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! My favorite professor at UCSB and I've only taken his psych 1 course. I plan to take anything he offers.
I was taking this class strickly for GE requirements. In fact I didnt want to take the class at all. Now the class is the best I have ever taken. He is all around a great teacher. Take his class if you can. HE BROUGHT IN A MAGICIAN.
If you want to take psy1, take it w/him. midterm was much easier than one would think, his lectures are really interesting, and he uses awesome examples to help u remember stuff. he puts the lectures online, and the class isnt boring. midterm/final r the only grades, but theyre easy. take this class
Fridlund's a good lecturer: he knows a lot and he keeps your interest for the whole lecture. His lecture slides are online, which helps a lot. There's only a midterm and a final, though, so watch out. As much as he says most of the info on his tests are from the lectures, a lot are from the book.
This is definitely an easy A class. Lectures are fascinating and humorous (but informative). Reading is interesting. With lecture notes online, a thorough study guide, and helpful lectures... this class is fun, interesting, and a GPA booster!
I agree, the final was terrible. I got a B on the mid-term and a D on the final. Answers to questions on final had two similar answers. Which SUCKED!
Awsome class, but it was hard. I read the assigned readings, went to the lectures and still didnt do well. The tests seem to have 2 "could be" answers, and they were so much alike. I know lots of people who did well though. He is very entertaining and funny. Cute too.
He's a good teacher and an entertaining lecturer.
Fridlund is the man! His lectures are interesting and engaging. Plus, he never goes off on political rants and keeps up enthusiasm for what he's teaching. Everyone MUST take this class!
He is one of the best professors in the Psychology department. His lectures are interesting as well as entertaining. His classes can sometimes have a lot of reading though.
