In lecture, he is like a grandpa telling his grandchildren a bedtime story. You don't have to go to lecture because he just stands there telling the stories of heroes.

Dr. Gallucci is a really nice person but a horrible lecturer. The class is easy and he covers what was said in the readings in lecture.

His class was not very difficult as long as you keep up with the assigned readings. Attending every lecture isn't necessary. He is difficult to hear even with a mic and tends to speak in monotone. But definitely take this class if you want your lit requirement. If you read, you'll get an A. Midterm is extremely easy, final is more difficult.

Probably the most boring professor I've ever had at UCSB. Never went to class, didn't buy a single book, read the stories online, and got an A+. If you need a Lit requirement, this is an easy A, but it's not enjoyable at all. I wouldn't recommend him if you want a stimulating and likeable professor.

Gallucci is a nice man. However he puts you to sleep so I wouldn't recommend ever going to class. Read the Classical Myth book and you will get an easy A. Stories are very interesting, first half is gods/goddesses and second half is heroes/trojan war. Get Noah Segal as a TA, he's sick.

Gallucci is one of the nicest professors at this school. He wants the class to succeed, doesn't mind giving the whole class A's as long as everyone knows the material. Incredibly easy class. He gives very helpful study guides. Simple tests. Must attend lecture because there are no powerpoints. Great guy, EASY EASY EASY class, boring/dry lecturer.

Chill proffesor, "dry" lecturer, easy class, and he cares that the students do well in the class..... Hes definatley one of my favorites and hope to take more classes with him, and easy midterm 50% of it was taking notes from a book....it cant get any easier than that!!!!

Most boring professor I have ever had! Not only is he boring, but you can barely hear him. Absolutely no structure or organization. It's not hard to get a good grade, but it's not even worth it

Gallucci is a really good professor. His lectures are boring but very informative. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the midterm and final. There is one paper, but it isn't very difficult, and there are many different topics to choose from.

Professor Gallucci truly cares about his students doing well. The material is interesting but he manages to make lecture extremely boring. There is a lot of information and a lot of reading but the midterm and final are very fair.

Prof. Gallucci's biggest fault is talking TOO SOFTLY, yet I still think he is one of the better professors still around. Very sharp in his assessment of the field. When the "cutting edge" opinions of foolish scholars are just plain wrong, he says so-with no sense of personal superiority or self-opinion. Integrity of research.

Gallucci's class isn't hard, it just involves alot of reading and alot of memorizing. Final is cumulative and has ALOT of material. Gallucci himself is extremely unorganized, too soft-spoken, and overall not a good professor. He sent us the study guide THREE DAYS before the final, which was barely enough time to study.

Gallucci's a legend. Definitely my favorite prof at UCSB. He's knowledgeable and gives you everything you need to know to succeed along the way. Just attend lectures, pay attention, and you might learn something.

Definition of a chill class. He's always wanting his students to do well. I've had him before and I'll always take his classes because he makes it easy to do well. My advice: take your notes on a laptop so you can get down everything he says. No lecture slides; purely talking... so you have to be sure to attend if you want the information. Easy!

Gallucci is the definition of chill. He is super relaxed and very straightforward. Sometimes I fell asleep in class because of this tone when I had a late night studying or raging, but his tests are all multiple choice, and when I didn't know what to write for my essay, I went to his OH and he basically told me exactly what I should write on. great

Having an early class made it hard to focus on.. The midterm was difficult since it was filled with many stories of dry and boring god/desses. The final was easier since it focused on a lower of stories with more exciting heroes. If you're taking this class alone, then you're at a disadvantage since all FSSP students 'help' eachother on the tests.

By FAR my favorite professor at UCSB. I took Gallucci for probably 5 or so classes and a few of his honors sections. His lecture style may be a little bit dry, but they definitely prepare you for the test. He is a great professor and very helpful. Le

Gallucci is very straight forward, very clear, very approachable, and very easy. Lectures can be a bit dry but tests are M/C, papers are super short, and there's no surprises on what he covers. You could probably do just fine if you missed a handful of classes, but I caught them all because they're fun to sit in.

This guy is one of the reasons for why I am a Classics major. Very good professor.

Gaullucci is the man, plain and simple. Lectures can be a bit dry but paying close attention guarantees at least a B. I got an A in the course without opening a book, sparknotes worked just fine. He is very nice and definitely fair. He admits he does not try to trick students. GO TO OFFICE HOURS, meeting him one on one is very helpful.

Hard to pay attention as he does not teach with overhead slides. But he is willing to help his students, nice guy. Covers the Iliad, Odyssey, Homeric Hymns, Greek Gods, Poetry, etc. One midterm, two 1 page papers, and a final. If you go to lecture and take good notes OR read the book, you can get an A. I did neither and got a B+.

Focused heavily on myth basics (characters, plot) and does little with analysis. Two tests and an easy paper. Lectures are pretty boring but the tests are straight-forward

A little dull, often late for class. However, very forgiving and friendly. Deeply interested in his topics. There are better professors in this department from my experience, but his classes can be worthwhile if you're the kind of person that is fine with writing a bit.

Easy Class. Seriously, there is no excuse for not passing this class with at least a solid B. Either read the text or attend lectures, tho summarized versions of the myths and prominent characters on Wikipedia will work well in a pinch. Focuses more on objectives, like people, places, and things, than the wishy-washy literary aspects. Nice guy too.
