Professor Gallucci is amazing. I really enjoyed his class. I learned so much about archeology Early Bronze age to the hellenistic period. I can now recognize pottery, sculpture and architectural styles. His lectures are enjoyable. He is very knowledgable. He deserves a teaching award for his dedication. Highly recommend! Best professor at ucsb.
Gallucci taught all my classes for FSSP. He is a lovely man and wants his students to succeed; class40 is extremely streamlined. That said he is very low-energy, and you will want to fall asleep in his class. Everything he discusses is in the textbook; as long as you read the textbook, you will get an A. I do not recommend taking Class99 with him.
Gallucci is a nice and pretty laid back professor. Just make sure you keep up with your readings. He offers extra credit. Make sure you sit up front he is a little quiet when he speaks.
super easy class, but extremely boring and disorganized lectures. There are a lot of required readings but you do not need many of them for exams. Class is graded on 2 essays, a midterm, and final. The essays are 600 words and if you do it you get an A. Exams are on arbitrary questions but were online and open book.
Dr. Gallucci is my favorite professor at UCSB. The best lecturer! Shame on the reviewer below who mentioned that they didn't attend lecture. If they actually went to class they would appreciate how great and interesting Dr. Gallucci's lectures are. He inspired me to take more classics courses. He is kind and caring too and very dedicated.
This professor is the worst I've ever had at UCSB. His lectures are incredibly boring and hard to follow, his material is unorganized and poorly planned, and he does not engage or communicate with students. His class is incredibly easy, and without attending a single lecture or doing any readings I got an A?! This quality of education is ridiculous
He totally makes this class an easy way to get a GE. Take him, two papers that are one page, just do some of the reading and his tests are online, multiple choice.
One of the best and nicest professors at UCSB. He understands that most students are taking this class for GE reqs so he tries his best to make it stress-free. Very clear grading rubric. The material is interesting. He provides really thorough and helpful study "checklists" that match exactly what shows up on the exams.
Dr. Gallucci is the best professor at UCSB. I really enjoyed his class. He is an amazing lecturer and storyteller. I look forward to the lectures. His grading criteria is clear and he really cares about the student's success. I learned so much about Greek Mythology. I can't wait to take more classes with him. UCSB is very lucky to have him.
Really boring and sometimes forgetful lecturer and over 1/2 the class doesn't attend. But he's an easy grader on essays and tests aren't too difficult so I got to rate him highly.
TBH, Dr. Gallucci's lectures are not that exciting, so try your best to keep pace with his lectures and not to fall asleep! His reading is very important and tested in both exams. However, he gives fair exams and an extra credit assignment after the final. Will take him again if he teaches other classics courses.
Gallucci is not perfect lecturer, so reading is the key to this course. He assigned a lot of reading such as Starr and Classics in Translation. Keep reading and pay special attention to Starr book. Passages in CiT such as Haunting House and Aeneid are also important. Overall, his course is amazing. His review sheet also helps a lot.
Professor Gallucci is an excellent professor who is knowledgeable in what he teaches. It is an easy course, as long as, you show up to lecture and take notes (p.s try not to fall asleep!). The final and midterm were straightforward, as well as, majority of it was on the study guides (which I recommend filling out).
Didn't go to any lectures and got an A. Midterm and final were very easy. Article summaries graded on completion. I did have to read the book for the book review but got 100% with not too much effort so it was also probably graded on completion. Proofread your work, he takes off points for spelling/grammar. Would recommend, he's a very nice guy.
He has a particular lecture style that many people will not like. He is very monotonous but, is obviously a professor who cares about his students. Participation in section is important for credit.
Profesor Gallucci is a great professor! Attend class & take notes and youll be sure to pass. Midterm & final were easy. You have to write two one page papers that are really easy and he is clear with his grading structure.
Very boring during lectures but very easy midterm and final. This may be because it was online and therefore open book/note, but overall this class was a super easy A. The readings he assigned were pretty interesting, and you definitely did not have to pay close attention to the lectures to get a good grade.
Took this course during session B of M20. The lectures were quite boring, but the class itself is easy. The rubrics and expectations were clearly defined. Gallucci's biggest flaw is that he doesn't usually check zoom so if he's accidentally muted, he'll stay that way until a TA gets ahold of him... which admittedly has happened a few times.
Gucci Gallucci is not the most entertaining professor, but he is a good man and is very passionate about Greek Myth. Overall, the class was an easy A.
Gallucci understands that his students are just there for a gen ed, so he makes it easy. He's pretty much incoherent during lectures, but it doesn't really matter. Just go over the study guide and cram for a day or two before the midterm and final, and you'll get an easy A. Take a class with Gallucci if you want an easy gen ed.
Dr. Gallucci's course examining the historicity of the Trojan War enriched my memories of the visit I took to Turkey this past summer. The course fulfills both the literature GE area and a writing requirement, and Dr. Gallucci makes it clear that an A is achievable with minimal effort -- graded based on 2 papers, 2 exams, and 8 article summaries.
Gucci Gallucci. His lectures can be boring sometimes but he is always willing to take questions. Tests are fairly easy. He knows that his class is mostly for students getting a G.E. credit so he just expects his students do have a general understanding of the course, nothing extreme like other professors.
So. Boring. I was interested in Greek Mythology but Gallucci sucked all the life out of it. I fell asleep almost every lecture, could not pay attention to him. Multiple choice exams with comprehensive study guides, weekly quizzes in section, minimal writing, extra credit opportunities, overall easy A if you read the textbook
Took him for INT 95A during Summer 2019. It was an easy class, though quite boring. There are usually guest speakers, but they weren't much better.
