SO FIRE Gallucci was literally the GOAT. He's retiring at the end of this school year, but for anyone looking to take one of his courses in spring quarter, totally do it! I had him for Ancient Greeks online and it was super chill, it's definitely doable to really well on the midterm, final, and both essays for SURE

You can tell he is very interested in what he teaches. Class consists of two SHORT essays (about a page), a midterm, and a final (which were both open note).

Professor Gallucci was a great professor. As someone who enjoys learning about greek mythology his lectures were very interesting. His grading criteria is very easy. It's unfortunate that he is retiring this year, so if you have a chance to take this class definitely do it. It's an easy A. (He records all lectures and exams are open note) :)

Great lecturer who makes the material enjoyable. Gallucci's class is not too difficult - open-note exams and essays are straightforward if you do the readings. Unstuckstudy AI was a helpful tool for prep alongside the textbook.

grade was just two 400-word essays, a midterm and final which were all open note/book. lots of reading if you actually read the texts he assigns. essays are basically 100% if you just do them. his classes fill up super-quick, understandably why.

Easy GE. The lectures were boring you don't need to go to do well. There were two short essays, a midterm (online), and a final (online). Great class overall.

This class was very easy to follow, and not difficult at all. Gallucci gives a lot of prep for the midterm and exam. Midterm and exam is based heavily on what was discussed in lecture and some readings. Overall, I would take him again.

Classics 20A was great. Dr. Gallucci is a great lecturer. The reading material was very interesting from Sansone, Iliad, Odyssey, tragedies and comedies. Dr. Gallucci explains the material well and I enjoyed his lectures. Agree with the other reviews, he is the best professor at UCSB. He makes the material enjoyable and is very caring and kind.

Lectures can be kind of boring, but if you just show up and take notes and then read the study sheets he puts up on Gaucho Space you'll be fine in this class. It's definitely better if you do the readings too but I didn't find them 100% necessary. Love gucci gallucci, he's a funny guy and super nice. Extra credit offered after final too.

Easy A class, but there's interesting material! You won't have to show up to lectures for an A, and the exams are pretty simple. Super nice guy, and you won't regret taking the class :)

Professor Gallucci appears to be a very nice person, but his lectures are extremely difficult to follow along and take notes on. Despite this, the material is very easy and attending lectures was optional. Your grade will consist of two papers, a midterm, and a final exam.

Gallucci is an angel. Lectures can get boring and very easy to zone out. Follow study guides and go to study sessions. Midterm and final are multiple choice, two one page essays, and a few extra credit opportunities. Easy A, but also easy to neglect. Either do the readings or go to lecture, but exams are based heavily on lecture.

literally the most boring man on earth. he lectures with no slides and has the most monotone voice in the world so you can't tell what's important. class isn't mandatory so there is no incentive to go. tests aren't hard (but they're long) if you know the basics but you can't cram the night before. 2 essays that everyone gets 100% on which is nice

he's a gem. super easy, super nice if you go to office hours. always wants students to be more involved

Boring lectures but you don't have to go. Just show up for the few before the midterm/final and you'll be good to go. Two one-page essays that are worth 10% and he gives 10/10 on almost every paper. He gives study guides for tests, just study those and it's an easy A. Never read for this class either. No final because of the mudslides. Nice guy too

Gallucci is awesome. Lectures can be boring, but the guy knows his stuff. Definitely don't purchase the textbooks, I never opened them once and got an A. Tons of extra credit opportunities. I didn't have to take the final because of the fires and chose my midterm score as my final grade, so I can't speak for the final, but the midterm was easy.

Gallucci is a very fair and kind professor! He understands that students usually won't retain that much information in a GE class and basically gives you all the main points for each book we read/point in history we go over. The tests are easy as pie because he gives study guides and goes over everything in lecture.

Easy to get lost in his voice because he doesn't use power points. But, everything mentioned in lecture will be on the test. Just make sure to take notes of everything he says and you'll be fine. He really cares about his students. It's easy to get distracted by internet/social media in his class, so just make sure to STAY FOCUSED and TAKE NOTES.

I have taken Gallucci throughout my four years here (Class 40, Class 20A, Class 50, Class 55). He is an absolute legend. Lectures are not mandatory in order to receive at least an A. Minimal work (a few papers) and midterm/final open note. If you ever get the chance to take his classes, do yourself a favor and DO IT!!!

Gallucci's retiring by the end of this school year, but I'm glad to have gotten a chance to take a class of his while I had the opportunity to. Really easy, he's really caring, and he made the class very enjoyable. He'll go down as a legendary professor here at UCSB.

EASIEST UPPER DIV GE EVER! Grade is made up of 2 papers (you'll get a high A if you try) & midterm + final (SUPER EASY online MCQ). Never did readings so basically NO HW! SUPER SWEET person & you can contact him for any questions via phone! Zoom lectures are hard to understand but they're NOT NEEDED...even to get an A (>90% don't attend lectures!).

Easiest class I have actually ever taken in my life. Midterm (30%), Final (35%), 400 word essay (10%) and 1400 word essay (25%). I honestly didn't watch a single lecture and have done really really well on all of the assignments. And Ralph is a great guy!!

Solid upper div class - 2 small papers, midterm, final, attendance is not mandatory. I've taken 5 classes from the Galluch and he's one of my favorite professors. He's a fair grader and is just a really nice and caring prof. Will give you extra credit opportunities.
