Examines the role of race, religion, and region within a history of encounters that influenced the construction and development of the American West from the 19th century to the present. Topics explored can include how the convergence of different racial and religious groups transformed ideas related to race and ethnicity, transnationalism, the environment and technology, new religious traditions, and broader conceptions of American religious history.

Prerequisites: Upper division standing or instructor approval.
