An introduction to optical phenomena and the methods and instrumentation used to generate, measure, and manipulate light. Experiments will cover imaging and aberrations, coherence, diffraction, interference, interferometry, Fourier optics, reflection and polarization, spectroscopy, lasers, fiber optics, and optical instruments.

Prerequisites: Physics 141 with a grade of C- or better, Physics 29 with a grade of C- or better, and Mathematics 6B with a grade of C- or better.
