Interdisciplinary - INT

What does critical thinking mean when AI can generate an answer in seconds? This two-unit seminar for transfer students explores critical thinking across disciplines, examining how AI platforms are reshaping how we evaluate evidence and form arguments. Through primary literature and small-group discussion, students practice testing claims, then apply these skills in a final paper of their choosing. Interested students may also volunteer with SciTrek, UCSB's largest science outreach program, teaching critical thinking to local secondary students through modules on genetic engineering, glucose biosensing, and cancer bioinformatics.

Prerequisites: Upper-division standing.
