History - HIST

An examination of gender and sexuality in Latin America from independence to the present. The course pays particular attention to how individuals exercised power and how gender, race, and class intersected. Themes include popular conceptions of sexuality, masculinity, and femininity, religion, work, health, and women's movements.

Prerequisites: HIST 8A or HIST 8B or upper division standing.
