Film and Media Studies - FAMST

Investigates the history and theory of "true crime" as an evolving intermedial genre from early modern broadsides to 19th-century penny dreadfuls to contemporary podcasts, docuseries, and amateur digital investigations. Students will analyze "true crime" case studies through different lenses, such as economics and industry, aesthetics and pleasure, and ethics and representation.

Prerequisites: Film studies 46 or upper-division standing, and consent of instructor.
