In this seminar, students will read and discuss current research articles and writings related to AI and the media industries. The course will consider AI tools and systems in relation to media production, distribution, and exhibition. Topics addressed include: ownership and capacities of AI tools and systems; changing work roles and labor relations; authorship, creativity, and copyright issues; AI-related modes of storytelling and aesthetics; impacts of AI on streaming and distribution; and infrastructural requirements of AI in the media industries.
