English - ENGL

A creative writing workshop course where students develop creative works based on the genres of ecological writing, cooking and cuisine, and Indigenous creative non-fiction. We study the conventions of nature and food writing, cultural and theoretical frameworks for human-plant relations, and engage in scholarly critique and research in addition to creative writing practice. In addition, students complete a fieldwork project involving gardening or culinary research. Students are encouraged to publish their final projects and will be mentored through the process of submitting writing to literary journals, food magazines, and culture-focused digital platforms.

Prerequisites: Writing 2 or upper-division standing.
