The Internet of Things (IoT) embeds ordinary physical objects in our environment with digital intelligence -- via sensing, control, communications, and computing capabilities. As such, IoT advances are likely key drivers of the next computing revolution. This course will teach IoT systems end-to-end, including the fundamentals of IoT devices, software architectures, communication protocols, security approaches, distributed, multi-tier (e.g. sensors, edge, and cloud) programming and deployment considerations needed to support emerging IoT applications.

Prerequisites: CMPSC 32 or CMPSC 130A.

CS176A . Nasir N 4 Months Ago

The content can be overly verbose and boring sometimes, but Prof Nasir does a great job of drilling it into your head with homeworks and projects. None of the assignments are particularly difficult, and are similar to the midterm and final exams. Professor and TAs are very accessible through office hours and Piazza.

Very passionate about students. Wants to learn each student's names in office hours and actually remembers each one. Exams and homeworks aren't too hard if you take the time to actually look through the lecture, textbook if needed, and go to office hours. Lots of resources for the exams to help study

Good professor who seems to really enjoy the subject. Midterm and final were reasonable, and he gave a generous curve.

Best prof ever makes the information really easy to understand. I've had him for CS130A and CS32 all of his exams have been fair. His hw are also very reasonable and his lectures are great.

Amazing professor, CS130A is a hard class he made manageable. Great lecturer, assignments are straightforward, if you do the homeworks and practice tests legitimately it's hard to not get an A.

CS32 . Nasir N 7 Months Ago

A great professor and I think he takes true passion in education. He is transitioning CS32 from a course on OOP to an introduction to systems, and I think even in its very early stages it is a well structured way to learn a bit about OS, computer architecture, parallel programming, etc. to see what you like. Exams very fair, but you need to study.
