CollegeGreat lecturer. Knows what he is talking about and very passionate. I've taken lots of his classes because he goes beyond other sociology professors. I highly recommend him for any class!
I loved this class! the lectures were interesting but can be a little dense at times. Professor Nielson was very kind and had a dry sense of humor. No homework, just one simple group project mid quarter and our final was online. There was iclicker but I was able to do it from home.
Erik Nielsen is clearly brilliant, but his teaching style can feel distant at times with the lack of student engagement. Lectures are informative and dense. Readings aren't super necessary for your understanding. 2 exams (online) and 2 essays with extremely clear rubrics that make them easy to write. Relaxed class and easy A if you do assignments.
He was very sweet, niche sense of humor, but I caught it. Lectures were straightforward, and most information came from the textbook. There were 2 essays, an online midterm, and a final online test. TA can kinda make or break mine was fine, but I had some trouble with the essay grades because of it. Easy GA or pre-major class.
Nielsen is a really nice guy, and his lectures were clear. I would take him again!
This class taught me a lot! 10/10 would take again, not hard and very easy to follow lecture.
