SHE'S THE BEST!!! Literally one of the best professors I have had at UCSB! Her lectures were so inspirational and she really wanted to get you to think or become a critical thinker. Lots of reading and weekly writing assignments, but they really helped you organizing your thoughts!

HIST185T . Zheng X 2 Months Ago

Professor Zheng is extremely knowledgeable. Class met twice a week--Wednesday lecture and Friday student-led lectures with a discussion (everyone has to do this). If you don't like participating or asking questions, this class is not for you! There was no midterm or exam final but we had weekly forum posts and a final essay. Lots of reading.

I can't say enough good things about her. She's so amazing; so caring and genuinely wants her students to enjoy class. She has very well organized lectures and a very reasonable amount of reading/work for an UD. Prof Zheng made me actually enjoy learning for the first time in awhile and she deserves all the praise in the world.

HIST185A . Zheng X 6 Months Ago

The best history professor I had at UCSB and that's no mean feat as it's a crowded field of passionate experts. She's one of the smartest people I've met and is very kind and supportive. If you want to study modern China, her classes are a must.

HIST185A . Zheng X 2 Years Ago

Professor Zheng should be a Harvard professor. 2 in-debates and 2 papers that correlate to the debate. weekly forum posts, but its mostly opinion based which makes it easier. The professor is super accessible and clearly loves teaching Chinese history. Powerpoints are extremely unorganized and hard to understand so attending lectures is helpful.
