Professor Zheng should be a Harvard professor. 2 in-debates and 2 papers that correlate to the debate. weekly forum posts, but its mostly opinion based which makes it easier. The professor is super accessible and clearly loves teaching Chinese history. Powerpoints are extremely unorganized and hard to understand so attending lectures is helpful.
Very good. Love it
She is the best Professor at UCSB I have met so far. Learned so much from her.
Professor Zheng is truly inspirational and she definitely knows how to teach. I feel lucky to have her as my teacher and I am grateful for everything she has taught me at UCSB.
Professor Zheng is one of the best professors at UCSB. I took her HIST 185B this year. If you take her class, be ready to read 100-200 pages per week and have a quiz every week. The class is hard but also interesting! She is a really good professor and she definitely knows how to teach.Take her class if you have a chance! My favorite prof at ucsb!
Professor Zheng is one of the best professors at UCSB. She is extremely knowledgable about her subject. I learned more in her class than in any of my other classes. Take 185B! Expect to work! Edit: my favorite professor.
She is the best professor in ucsb
She is a very generous grader and her readings are very reasonable. Everyone is likely to receive a good grade. The midterm debate paper is also enjoyable and doesn't require much time. I recommend taking it without hesitation. You'll have a great chance at succeeding in this course.
If you REALLY love Chinese history this course is for you. Strict grader. Though professor Zheng said that "No need to write a long paragraph", you need to write 1000 words a week for the forum post to get full credit or you can only get 2/4. Textbooks are useful(Everything is in the textbook and the reading task is heavy).
Prof. Zheng's lecture is resourceful, but(for Winter 2023 case) if you don't want to write ~800 words for homework that she said "~100 is okay" to get 3.5/4, and write a 7 pages paper in 9 days(without extension it's 7days) and be informed that the final has been changed from take-home to in-person 3 hrs essay writing. Prepare a substitute ahead
Best Professor at UCSB, learned so much from her.
One monograph a week. Super difficult class, but grading is generous. Discussions were super nice. Prof Zheng is very helpful and caring. The best class taken at UCSB so far.
