Everyone who raves about Youssef on here talks about his "lowest midterm gets dropped" policy which wasn't a thing anymore when I took Econ1. Just 3 midterms that made up 90% of your grade, no drops. This made one bad/meh midterm fatal to your final grade. Decent lecturer and seems like a nice enough guy but didn't like the class setup at all.

Pretty average lectures, so not much to say there. However, he's not that great at writing test questions. Even when I knew the material well, it could be difficult to understand what he was trying to ask. At the end of the quarter, he had to apply a pretty significant curve because so many of us struggled with that.

Tests are confusing and only have 20 questions when it covers 90% of your grade. Can't contact the professor or the TAs. Lots of wrong answers on the tests and even when the TAs acknowledge it, nothing will happen. Take it with a different prof

He was chill but sometimes a little disorganized in lectures, sometimes seemed like he didn't completely know what was on his own slides. Because of the econ department curve the class was iffy for grading especially is just taking for a GE.

I loved Professor Benzarti. very relaxed and explained concepts clearly. took Chem 1B at the same time and I still felt like I did well in the course. lectures were easy to follow and a good introduction to econ for someone who had never taken it before. I was not a huge fan of having lectures in Campbell Hall, but overall I enjoyed the class

3 tests make up 90% of your grade, and the professor disallows makeups. "No exceptions" is boldly written on the syllabus, which is generally fine unless you have an external circumstance (like me), had to drop the class due to missing the third test. Emails are not responded to.
