BENZARTI Y C
Easy class, sections not mandatory, funny prof
Great professor, makes lecture material very understandable. Would recommend for first quarter of freshman year.
I had a particularly terrible experience with this professor. I had to miss a test due to playing in the D1 NCAA soccer tournament and he simply gave me a 0. He used the excuse that the lowest test grade was dropped and therefore it did not matter. It took weeks for him to respond to my emails and he simply does not care about his students.
Laid back personality, grading set up is student friendly as he drops 1 of 4 quizzes that make up 60% of your grade. The other 40% is essentially free points as long as you complete them.
Once i showed up to one of the exams 6 minutes late and Prof Benzarti wouldn't let me in lol I was about to get on my knees and start begging him before i remembered theres an exam drop and left with my dignity intact. This class was hella easy though but I'll be honest the lectures were so boring I was about to fall asleep every time
Benzarti was very nice and clear about grading and the course structure. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he says so many things during lecture that help you understand his material that is not mentioned anywhere on the presentation slides. He has a slight accent and talks quietly sometimes, making it hard to hear him, but overall it is not bad.
A great beginner econ course. Benzarti is a good teacher and the content is really interesting. He is willing to answer lots of questions. Tests are weighted heavily but as long as you study you will have no issue getting a good grade.
Section/lecture isnt mandatory and everything is posted online and all hw is inf tries till you get it right and midterms are pretty easy and they drop the lowest regardless and the final is basically also a “midterm” chill guy fr
This class is really not difficult, but his homework is really not good. There were a lot of questions where the answers were wrong and I was very distressed at the time. And he still needs to answer questions in his section. This is not high school.
This class is very manageable. Lectures and sections are optional and the notes are posted online, so missing class is completely fine. Homework and projects are allowed unlimited attempts and are pretty easy. What will determine your grade are the 4 exams. If you study 1-2 hours for each one, an A in this class should be achievable.
I took ECON 1 for GE as a physics major who suck at social sciences, so take it with a grain of salt. His course is easy to do well, his explanations and lectures are somewhat confusing (for me, at least) but it all made sense after some self studying. Homework(RQ & Projects) are simple and on point. Solid choice. Note: Highest score is A (93-100)
The lectures weren't the best but attendance is not mandatory and the slides are always posted, along with study guides and exam practice. The assignments are easy and straightforward, with the lowest RQ, exam and project being dropped. Definitely had to study for exams but it was all stuff from the reviews and lectures.
