CollegeI'm not using this to review the professor, but more-so the TAs. As of writing this review, it is Week 10 of the quarter, and I have not gotten a single grade back for any of my reports. I find it extremely frustrating that there is little to no feedback within this class, and considering how much LabFlow already automatically grades, its lazy too.
Chem 1CL overall was really challenging, and the labs have much more confusing processes than A and B. But it's honestly just about which TA you end up with. My TA was chill and explained concepts very well. The final, like the previous two labs, was incredibly hard. My advice is try to go into the final with an A+, so you can tank the bad grade.
Lectures are not good. I took this course at another CC, and I definitely needed that knowledge to get through this class. Bernt rushes through any and every question possible, taking zero consideration to make sure people understand the material. When he asks the class to fill in the blank for his question, 99% of the time, nobody answers.
Not a bad lecturer, and he seems over hated. Much easier tests than the other professors, so as long as you keep up with the lectures and do the practice exams/books problems you will do fine. Would much prefer to take him for the whole chem series since its a much easier class to pass than the other professors.
Bernt seems like a nice guy but not a good teacher. If you are taking this class, expect to teach yourself pretty much everything. The curve he gives can benefit a lot of people, but for me, it didn't. He didn't provide help with his practice tests, didn't show solving steps only highlighted the answers. The homework/Aleks was not like his exams.
Easy Chem 1A tests. Okay at lecturing, but just make sure to PRACTICE. Not very accessible via email.
