CollegeReally good at explaining main ideas but you have to do a lot of work outside of lecture to get a good grade. Book problems and ALEKS are really helpful. Puts questions from the book problems and midterms on the final.
Joseph offered so many resources to help students out; recorded lectures, uploaded all slides, provided so many practice problems. Chem is inherently challenging so the course was not easy, but Joseph did all that he could to prepare students. There was a large curve at the end and he will potentially round grades even after the curve.
Joseph is the absolute goat. Chem 1A is very difficult course regardless of the professor, but Joseph has great lectures and the tests are fair. Read the textbook if you have the time, but MAKE time for the book problems. Treat them as if they are not optional.
Workload for this class is insane but if you have done and understand all the book problems (about 40 per chapter) you will do well on the test. Professor explains concepts well so definitely recommend going to his lectures and talk to him when you don't understand. A doable class overall but be prepared for the amount of work you have to put in.
The midterms and final were very hard, but Professor Joseph's lectures were clear and useful. Also, your final grade is curved. Do the book problems and ask questions during office hours.
The best professor for gen chem. Tests are challenging but all the material can be studied from previous and practice tests. Do the homework to understand the material not to study.
