Such a caring and understanding person, but lectures were boring at times. The material was interesting, but for a 2 hour lecture I was falling asleep :( Section was boring too, TA just gave us questions to talk with each other about the whole time and some people wouldn't talk. Midterm/final were kinda intimidating, but I passed.

Prof Mireles-Rios truly cares about her students & is very approachable. Although she tends to go off a tangent, ppts are always available on canvas. Graded on weekly reading reflections, attendance, midterm, & final exam. TA was also very approachable & grading was fair. Exams are short essay questions mostly based on your experiences.

Professor Mireles-Rios means well but I found her presentation of the lecture disorganized at times. The expectation for citing and knowing certain materials in the midterm and final included some things that were not covered in the class or in the readings. Her communication with or ability to guide the TA also seemed inadequate.

Dr. Rios is one of the best Professor's at UCSB. She keeps the class engaged & the reading material is very interesting. The material is easy to understand and the class is easy to pass. Grading is based on Midterm, Random in class responses, research paper, section & final! No book is required! Go to class & you'll pass! Definitely recommended!

She was excellent. Very relaxed when she presents. Allows students to voice their thoughts. I liked the paper prompts not so much the multiple choice test (not too bad if you study it though).

She is amazing! The class only meets once a week so the lecture is a little long (2 hours) but she makes the class so interesting that it doesn't even feel close to that long. I would definitely recommend her to anyone considering a career in education and would undoubtedly take any other classes she teaches. Wonderful professor with a kind heart.
