Prof Mireles-Rios truly cares about her students & is very approachable. Although she tends to go off a tangent, ppts are always available on canvas. Graded on weekly reading reflections, attendance, midterm, & final exam. TA was also very approachable & grading was fair. Exams are short essay questions mostly based on your experiences.

Professor Mireles-Rios means well but I found her presentation of the lecture disorganized at times. The expectation for citing and knowing certain materials in the midterm and final included some things that were not covered in the class or in the readings. Her communication with or ability to guide the TA also seemed inadequate.

One of the best professors I have ever had! Her course was a great combination of interesting material, thought provoking assignments, and insightful discussions. Would highly recommend.

Shes a very kind professor but spacey during lecture as if she doesnt know what shes talking about. Lectures are not synched with readings. Busy work here and there. Not as great as Id thought shed be

She does not give feedback on assignments or post grades, so your left the entire quarter not knowing your grade. She does not post lectures on time but at least she was lenient on when assignments had to be turned in. I would not take this class if you prefer professors that grade your assignment and do their work.

Professor Rios is the nicest professor I've ever had at UCSB. I've never felt more comfortable with a professor. Her class was interesting and her exams were straight forward. She's a very fair person and I have a lot of respect for her. She's very dedicated to her job and I 1000000% recommend taking this course with her!

Professor Rios is the kindest Professor I have had in the ED department! She is accessible outside of class and is always willing to answer questions and help you out. Her lectures are straight to the point and so are her exams! There are 5 random weekly reflections so make sure you go to class. My TA was Tiffany and she was great too :)

Professor Rios is so friendly and amazing. I took her class during summer 2016 and I became interested in child development because of this class. She is willing to help students during office hours. Her midterm and final were also very fair. I would definitely take her class again.

Dr. Rios is one of the best Professor's at UCSB. She keeps the class engaged & the reading material is very interesting. The material is easy to understand and the class is easy to pass. Grading is based on Midterm, Random in class responses, research paper, section & final! No book is required! Go to class & you'll pass! Definitely recommended!

Dr. Rios is awesome, she's the most warmest and friendliest professor you'll ever encounter at UCSB. Her class and lectures/grading is super straight forward and to the point - no tricky bullcrap like 99.5% of all other professors here. AWESOME and always willing to help. I wish she taught more classes because I'd take em! She's also hot btw so :)

She was excellent. Very relaxed when she presents. Allows students to voice their thoughts. I liked the paper prompts not so much the multiple choice test (not too bad if you study it though).

She is amazing! The class only meets once a week so the lecture is a little long (2 hours) but she makes the class so interesting that it doesn't even feel close to that long. I would definitely recommend her to anyone considering a career in education and would undoubtedly take any other classes she teaches. Wonderful professor with a kind heart.
