CollegeAWESOME PROF!
Lack of organization makes it difficult to follow along during lectures. The amount of dull reading adds insult to injury. Instead of discussions/activities, you're bombarded with dry texts that fail to pique your interest. It's like slogging through a swamp of uninspiring content, desperately searching for something remotely engaging to hold onto.
I am so happy that I decided to take another course with her. She is seriously the most caring, genuine, and inspiring professor i've had at UCSB. She made the 3 hour class seem so short and took the time to get to know all of us on a personal level. I'm so sad to be leaving her after graduation. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN. YOU WONT REGRET IT.
Take home midterm/final. 2 short book commentary papers & 1 4-page paper that she required you use 25 sources. Not too bad, she's very enthusiastic & encourages class discussion, brought snacks to every class.
Professor Bhavnani is the reason I will be going to grad school. SOC 156A and 156B are the two most engaging and inspirational courses I have taken during my 4 years at UCSB. If you have the opportunity, take her class! Works with you to revise papers if needed, open to suggestions, flexible, and gives extra credit!
Professor Bhavnani is by far my favorite professor at UCSB. She understands that as students we are there to learn and improve, for this reason she allows you to rewrite your papers if you receive a less than satisfactory grade. She is the sweetest and has a great passion for social movements! Only 4 papers all short.
