In this course, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of design for theatre, dance, performance, and live events. You’ll be taught about four disciplines of design including Scenery, Costume, Lighting, and Projection along with a series of approaches to formulate and communicate your own design work to others. Inspired by texts, music, and research, you will create visual designs that express ideas and aesthetic choices while fulfilling practical requirements for the performer or participant in an intentional environment. Through hands-on projects and class activities, you will create designs for live performance through writing, research, 2D media and 3D models.

CollegeVickie is super chill and honestly taught me a lot. The only thing is that attendance is part of your grade which could be annoying at times but overall a super easy class. You can tell she wants you to succeed and loves what she does
Professor Scott was one of the least considerate professor I have ever had. She claims to be easily accessible through text and email, however she disregards what the email is about completely. I had unforeseen issues with the midterm and once I emailed her AND the TA about they both simply ignored it. I thought it was very unprofessional of her.
She is an awesome professor. Don't let the pop quizzes fool you, they help a lot for the midterm and final!
Professor Vickie was firm but fair. We had a Midterm and Final, along with mandatory graded attendance. Classes were lectures from her and some class participation. It was a lot of listening. We were given an exact study guide of the questions that would be on the exams with answers. Only hard part of the class was memorization and time given.
Don't take this class unless you have to. Instead of teaching us herself, she assigns many long videos to watch outside of class (up to 10 hours worth of videos in 1 week) so she can lecture about irrelevant topics. The exams were on tiny details from the videos. She marked me late for going to the bathroom for 2 minutes during a 2 hour class.
Absolutely love Professor Scott. She is so genuinely considerate of fostering creative freedom and allowing students to create what THEY want to. Every class was full of laughter and in depth discussion about current projects in the theater department. Homework was incredibly easy and while the final project took a lot of work, it was really fun!
