An introduction to lithium-ion batteries (LIB). The course consists of a significant laboratory component where students acquire hands-on experience in handling, analyzing, and studying state-of-the-art (SOA) LIBs. Students also learn how to design, manufacture, and test prototype batteries made using prototype manufacturing equipment. Course Prerequisites: General materials science course background and students must have valid UCSB general laboratory safety certification.

Prerequisites: Consent of instructor.
