CollegeYou need to teach yourself a lot in this class. I primarily self-studied everything. She barely teaches you the topics on the exams and her lectures are all over the place. She's also known to not curve any class even though this is an elective class, which is usually curved a lot. 80% of your grade are exams. Nice person but beware of her classes.
Nice as a person but this class was an absolute MESS! Went through 2 ENTIRE chapters the lecture RIGHT BEFORE midterm and another chapter right before the final. The exams also don't entirely cover what's taught in class AND there is NO curve in her courses! I really wanted to enjoy this class, but I didn't. AVOID THIS CLASS, TAKE ANOTHER ELECTIVE!
Her lecture is really helpful in terms of helping students understand the content. She does ramdonly pick students to answer her questions but I think it's a good way of keeping up withe the content. Midterms and Final wasn't bad at all. Start early on the tax return and you will be good!
Decent person but a bad teacher. Lectures are mostly rambling, which makes her seem unprepared. Exams have 30+ MCQs plus 2 FRQs in about 65 minutes - way too much. She skips through content, assuming we're experienced CPAs, leaving gaps in learning. Tests are stressful and fast-paced. Avoid this class and take it with someone else if you can.
If you do the practice Brief Exercises, read the textbook, and attend lectures and discussion section, you will be alright.
Required calling on students randomly in class and going around to solve a problem (introvert nightmare). Doesn't explain foundational 3A/3B concepts adequately for transfer success. Tests are difficult, lectures are anxiety-inducing and scattered. Nice person, but wait for a different prof for the 136 series, or prepare to self-study constantly.
